The Nurseries Grevisk

A five minute drive to Lough Key Forest and Activity Park, one of Ireland's most popular family Parks. The Nurseries is c200 years old and was once the home of the head gardener to the Rockingham Estate. It was later owned by the McGahern family and is referred to in some of John McGahern's writings. Ballindooley Castle

The Castle rests on about half an acre of land with Ballindooley Lake lying to the south west. It is surrounded by low walls and hedges: with a gated entrance controlled by an electronic security system. Features include 3 murders holes and a dungeon The castle was built by the DeBurgo family (approximately 1480). It had the distinction of being shelled by the British Gunboat ” Helga” during the1916 Rising to disband rebels
