“We found The House on the Roof by chance when we were looking for a place to stay in Italy, with our two small dogs , for an extended period during the winter months. Lucignano proved to be really well located for easy travelling by car into Florence; Siena; Arezzo and dozens of nearby towns and villages. The village itself is utterly charming and the local people warm and friendly The house is spacious and very quirky. It is where Daniela and her husband brought up their children, who are now grown up, and this family feeling is apparent in every aspect of their former home. The house comes as it was when they lived there, furnishings; photos, family china; and everyday ephemera. It is unique. On arrival we were given bread made by Daniela’s husband; eggs from their hens and home made preserves. As we were there for such a long time we had lots of requests and queries and Daniela and Jacopo were always available and really helpful and accommodating. They are truly beautiful people. I have to mention that there are a lot of steps to get to the apartment and on first sight that seemed a little daunting but we soon got used to them and in fact they may have helped to keep us fit...we are both in our 70’s and it was not a problem. We had the most wonderful 9 weeks in Lucignano and it was a privilege both to stay in such a house and to have met such a delightful family. After this unique experience we love the Italian people more than ever.”
Apartment with beamed ceilings and terracotta floors, this apartment is set in a 19th-century farmhouse located in the hills of Siena in Rigomagno Toscana. From the solarium next to the swimming pool in the middle of the olive trees, you can admire the panorama of the Sienese hills and the medieval village of Rigomagno ... all this characterizes the ideal holiday for couples or families who want to relax.
“I wanted a Tuscany location that blended being in the country while still being able to access the roads to get to all the major locations such as Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, and wine country (Chianti, Montalcino, etc). Diego's place was the perfect spot. It was only ten minutes to the main road and provided us a quiet getaway with only the nighttime noises as background as we unwound each evening. Diego and his mother, who are both VERY friendly, were both quick to answer questions and provide suggestions. All the rooms were very clean and spacious. The kitchen had plenty of pots, pans, and sundry so that we were able to easily make most of our own dinners. The local grocery stores were both convenient and fully stocked. A few items to keep in mind. First, do get the GPS coordinates for the location as Google Maps will get you there though you will likely have doubts the last several hundred meters. Second, it's likely that a visitor will go to Lucignano which is a great little local town but parking is as at premium. Be sure to brush up on the parking signage/white line-blue line stuff beforehand. We had a great trip and big thanks to Diego and his mother Ann Marie for helping make this possible.”

“A beautiful, comfortable, well-equipped accommodation in a quiet location and perfectly located for visiting Tuscany and Umbria. We were very well received and had a fabulous week strolling through these areas, much of which is classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. Firenze, Siena, Perugia and Assisi are the most famous cities. Do not neglect Gubbio, Arezzo and Cortona. Nature, culture, good weather and fabulous meals, a holiday to relax and come back ...”
