Some of the many sites in Modica include, the Cathedral of San Giorgio, Church of San Pietro, and the Castle of the Counts of Modica. You will definitely want to bring a camera.
Ancient building materials, stone and wood, are the ingredients of this villa’s original design. Formerly a barn complex, now a luxurious modern home, Casi O Cantu has taken the most time tested elements from the old world and added in state of the art building materials to create an updated homage to the regions rich architectural history. Stone walls and archways and exposed wood vaulted ceilings can be seen in most areas of the interior. They are complimented by wooden furniture, cozy seating, and an open concept design, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Through an amazing stone archway, you’ll find the immaculate kitchen. Stocked with top of the line stainless steel appliances, marble countertops, and a rustic sleek decor, you’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time, but you’ve brought a chef’s kitchen with you.
Outside on the terrace, enjoy an afternoon dip in the refreshing salt water pool. For lunch, prepare a meal in the outdoor kitchen, or on the barbecue, and eat in the alfresco dining area. For dinner, head inside to the formal dining area and light a fire in the beautiful stone fireplace. Then turn on the sound system, and the tone is set for an elegant evening.
After you’ve taken the time to explore Modica, direct your attention onwards to the amazing historic regions of Ragusa, Siracusa, and Mount Etna, all fellow members of UNESCO, they are a must-see if you’re a history aficionado. Or, if you’re feeling like a trip to the beach, there are several public beaches just a short drive from the villa.
