Tucked into the grounds are a sun-soaked terrace with a swimming pool, lounging and dining areas, and a barbecue, as well as basketball and tennis half-courts and a ping-pong table. There’s also a satellite TV and Wi-Fi inside.

With its sleek lines and modern furniture, Casa Blue feels like a corner of California in the middle of the Crete landscape. The living room, dining room and fully equipped kitchen are all in one open-concept space with panoramic views of the hills and coastline, so you can enjoy the luxury of having everyone gather together.

The villa has one bedroom with a queen bed and en-suite bathroom, and two bedrooms that each have a king bed and shared access to a hall bathroom. The two king bedrooms are together on the lowest floor, the main living areas are on the middle floor, and the queen bedroom sits by itself on the villa’s top floor.

Though Casa Blue feels like a quiet island haven, it’s less than a 10-minute drive from the towns of Agia Pelagia, Ligaria and Achlada, as well as Mononaftis and Psaromoura beaches. Spend a day by the water, then have a drink or dinner at a local taverna. Be sure to take a day trip into the city of Heraklion, whose palaces and museums are well worth a visit.
