A beautifully painted, handcrafted Bowtop caravan sited in the depths of tranquil Dorset, we have them ready and waiting for you at award-winning South Lytchett Manor; a wonderful opportunity for a Dorset glamping holiday and to experience the real romance of staying in a traditional gypsy home — perfect for a family holiday or as a thoughtful gift to someone special.
“I bought 2 nights stay as a gift to my parents so they could have a quirky stay near Poole for the weekend. They absolutely loved it, the caravan was very spacious, clean tidy and right opposite the toilet block, which has music playing in whilst you shower! My partner and I visited them during their stay and I was very impressed with the caravan site that it was on was lovely and they said they had a lovely time at the pub down the road where they got a complimentary bottle wine as they were staying local. The only thing that they mentioned was it took them to find the venue originally as the post code took them to the school round the back of the site, so just so people are aware, however I found it all good when visiting. I'm sure that they would like to revisit and us too. Thank you very much, it turned out to be a great gift for them.”
We look forward to welcoming you into our family home here in Upton, Poole. My husband Steve and I live here with our 2 boys (Mason & Hunter), aged 5 and 8 and our daughter (Tilly) who is 2! Obviously a small level of noise comes with family life and our three excitable young children, however, we are as respectful as possible when we have guests staying with us. Please feel free to get in touch if you have questions in advance of booking and we look forward to meeting you. Gemma.
“Gemma’s place was just perfect. It was easy to find and we were able to park on her drive. Communication was instant, and we received a friendly welcome. The room was warm, comfy very clean with a lovely en suite. There is a great breakfast bar, and with a microwave in the room you are able to heat up a ready meal. There was a large selection of breakfast items for a continental breakfast. The room is extremely good value. And we would highly recommend.”
The Shepherds hut is situated in its own woodland and is off grid. You will be able to take in the beautiful night sky and fall asleep to the tranquil sound of the stream trickling by and our owls twit twooing after a day of walking the coast line and visiting the RSPB at Arne . It has its own small log/coal burner to make it nice and cosy and there is a lovely comfy double bed to relax on. You will also hear the night time noises of our woodland friends -the foxes barking and the deer rutting.
“Me and my partner stayed at this delightful Sheppard's hut during the weekend of storm Dennis. Let me clear any doubt you might have about this place being cold, small or unsafe - we left thinking "was there even a storm?" The burner was so effective we found ourselves opening the windows to let heat out. During a storm. Trust me you won't be cold. For the size of the hut it feels like every inch has been taken into account to make it as useful as possible while still being presented as uncluttered or tight for movement. And as for safety, well we didn't blow away in winds reported at 50mph so neither will you. The host Claire is awesome, super friendly and genuinely has good vibes. Made us feel completely at ease and really puts in the effort. We stayed during valentine's weekend and she put petals down which was a nice touch. The food provided was incredible and all from the farm which made it even more special. It really is a gem of a find, even in the storm you could still hear the stream rolling by which is better than any sleep noise apps out there. We'v not stayed in a Sheppard's hut before but I can guarantee we won't stay in one better like this one ever again!”
