This unique place has a style all its own.杉林枋寮這片土地，幾世代盤根錯結的關系，隨著人口的老化，老房子也逐漸年久失修，社區老理事長夫婦，至今保留了1970,80年代老家的樣子，ㄧ直沒什麼改變，住在德國的女兒覺得圍繞在小山中的“三合院”老家很美，捨不得上一輩凋零後，老房子將來就這樣荒廢，殘破，所以特地說服老公從德國回來，把老房子整修，打算退休時有ㄧ段時間回老家住。當我們人不在台灣時，把房子出租，提供美濃、甲仙、杉林地區住宿多些選擇，讓房子有人住，比較不會荒廢，同時也可以有些經費維護老房子。
