The location is excellent if you know Fowey, tucked away in a lovely little courtyard just off the main street, and the owner was helpful in allowing us early access. Unfortunately, the property itself was disappointing. There was a strong musty smell on arrival and the whole place felt very old, tired, and shabby, with worn carpets and dated furnishings that did not match the photos or description. The shower was very poor, with barely any pressure and constantly changing temperature, making it difficult for four guests to use even with the boost. The kitchen was also poorly equipped, with not enough glasses, mugs, or cutlery for the number of guests staying! The biggest issue was that one of the bunk beds collapsed while my teenage son was sleeping in it, whilst sleeping. Thankfully nobody was underneath at the time. It’s a shame because the property has great potential due to its location, but it really needs updating and a more accurate listing description.

The place was filthy,from the outside in,especially the bathrooms,I had to clean them before we could use them,sheets were stained,dirt and cobwebs in every room,the host was responsive and asked if we wanted the housekeeper to return but she clearly didn’t do the job properly the first time,I suggested a new housekeeper,the host did give us a partial refund to cover the cleaning costs and my time,we should have said we weren’t staying and asked for a full refund but after travelling for 4 and a half hours what on earth else can you do? As the week went on it just got worse,the kitchen glasses were dirty,the table,windows,the balcony furniture wasn’t practical,the chairs weren’t the right height for the table so you couldn’t sit and eat,the couch in the front room had lost all its stuffing so the structure hurt the back of your legs and the dirt was ingrained,nowhere comfortable to sit,no protectors on any of the bedding,the pillows smelt of old sweat,not enough room to list everything

Lovely place to stay right in the middle of Fowey tucked into a little courtyard so very quiet and private. Very comfortable place to stay. Really easy for the dogs as well. The detailed description and instructions and recommendations were so helpful too! Thank you Sinead!

Sea view at Fowey (Foy). I fell in love with the view from the balcony but was upset that you only get morning sun, however the entire town is like that. I imagined us sitting with an evening wine looking at the boats (and cruise liners) but it was too cold. Too early in the year maybe. Apart from this it was a lovely, comfy place and only a short walk to town where there was plenty of shops, cafes and bars. Walk all the way through town to the car ferry and drop into game of Cones for a boozy milkshake. Parking for one car with a small tight driveway. Town is a short walk away and maybe not for those with mobility issues.
