You’ll love my place because it has hot springs in the mountains. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, travelers, and families (with kids).
“Very nice cabin! The building understands the topography and its surroundings very well. The possibility of staying in the hot springs until late at night makes it even better. It could be a little cleaner, especially the bathroom, but it is part of the experience of being in touch with nature without much pretense.”
Enjoy elevated camping at our family-run, organic farm, Granja Urkuwayku, located on the Ilaló Volcano. You have access to your own furnished kitchen, library with loft as well as bathhouse, with hot water and dry latrine (no to little smell!). For breakfast, we include farm-fresh yoghurt, granola, eggs, bread, juice, and coffee. Beer is extra. Over 100 kms of walking and biking trails surround, including hot springs and bus service to Quito just minutes away.
“We stayed with Stephen on his farm for 4 nights at the end of an adventure around Colombia and Ecuador. It was the perfect spot to relax outside of Quito while being near a small town (La Merced) and nature. It also offers outdoor adventure opportunities nearby. Hosts: Very knowledgable on a wide variety of topics and overall fascinating to chat with. On our first night, Stephen walked us through rows of fresh crops to harvest veggies we could make for dinners. Stephen + Myriam were extremely helpful in helping us find hiking trails for the day, home-made dinners in the local community, and explaining everything we wanted to know about their farming operations. We were even able to play 2 games of pick up hockey! Prior to our visit we made a few changes to the itinerary as well as had a laundry list of questions about what activities we could do there during our stay. We always received prompt and detailed communication with willingness to accommodate. We found everything described on the Airbnb posting to be accurate. Overall, Stephen and Myriam are extremely prompt, hospitable, and helpful. Space: The sleeping arrangement was a luxury tent at the top of the property with a view of the farm and La Merced. A peaceful, private place to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of nature (and in February rain) with great airflow and a furnace if the temperature got too low. We had full access to a library/kitchen space which was a great place to hang out to play cards or read Actual hot water for the shower Overall, better than the photos Food: Farm fresh breakfasts - all bread, veggies, eggs, etc are organic and local Plenty of options in La Merced Fully equipped kitchen or local coop meals for a small fee. Overall, we'd love to go back again and highly recommend Granja Urkuwayku.”

Breakfast upon request $4. We are looking forward to your stay!
“Iris' place is an absolute gem. The neighborhood is an interesting mix of concrete and runaway chickens, but the location itself is perfect for enjoying everything in Quito without dealing with Quito population and traffic. It was relatively easy to find and Iris checked us in herself (even though we were hours later than anticipated). She is a tour guide as well so her knowledge is vastly superior than the general internet, offering excellent local recommendations. The place is beautiful in a sophisticated and modern way, mixed with tons of natural light and thoughtful touches. The view alone is worth coming for. The pictures were what sold us originally, and they don't even do it justice.”
