This unique eco- hideaway is located in a river valley at the base of Mt. Ka’ala, the highest peak on Oahu. This private, gated community is close to all beaches on the north shore and only about 2 miles from Haleiwa town center.
Staying on this property will allow you to connect with and experience nature in an unforgettable way. Fall asleep to soothing sound of the stream and wake up to the beautiful songs of the birds on this one acre property.
This property is entirely off grid, yet still has the comforts of home. All energy is generated with solar power. Water is pumped from our private artesian well 180 feet below the surface of the earth.
The 10’x20’ lanai is not visible from the private road leaving its guests hidden with only views of the ravine. This South African Safari tent is equipped with it’s own propane refrigerator, sink and stove. Experience the beautiful outdoors and serenity of the open air with the comforts of clean sheets, electricity, and a hot shower.
The 17’x17’ enclosed area has a queen size bed and a queen sized futon couch bed. There is a power strip with plenty of power to charge your phones, computers, etc.
The attached bathroom includes plumbed sink, toilet and propane hot-water shower, along with a claw foot tub.
This Safari tent is on the same property with our main house and another tent, but the landscaping and the layout of the land allow for plenty of privacy.
Enjoy (when in season) sweet dwarf apple bananas, papayas, Meyer’s lemons, Mexican limes, star fruit, guava, and more.
There is a certified organic farm about a 5 minute walk up our private road where you can purchase organic produce directly from the farmer on Saturdays and Sundays. Farm to your table in no time at all.
Our guests have told us this hideaway is more than just a place to stay, but an experience of true native Hawaii.
There are two friendly hens and a loving cat which may visit during your stay. No other pets are allowed on the property, sorry.
Please be advised that trespassing on neighboring properties is not allowed and can be dangerous.
Airport pick up and drop off is available (depending on our availability) for $50 each way.
Bikes, snorkeling gear and surfboards available for use and we have many suggestions for hiking, surfing, snorkeling spots… Favorite restaurants, shops, massage therapists etc. very close to Jasmine yoga co-op and a short walk to Orchard Oasis Yoga.

Welcome to your off the grid hideaway. Please respect this green lifestyle and use common sense for energy efficiency. Generally speaking: Turn off lights, conserve water, and keep the power consumption as low as possible.
Please do not plug any electric heating elements into system. The solar inverter cannot handle the load. This includes but is not limited to: hairdryers, flat irons, etc.
This house is serviced by a private septic system. Only toilet paper flushed. NO EXCEPTIONS (no tampons, feminine products, floss, wet wipes, etc…). Please be mindful and try to avoid letting hair go down the drain. Wash sand from feet with hose outside before showering in bathroom. Do not put grease or coffee grinds down the drains.
CONSERVE WATER! This property utilizes a small private well. There is no city water. Please be mindful of shower length and frequency. Be mindful of wasting water – wash dishes with as little water as possible. Alert landlord of any leaky toilets/faucets/valves. When using hose, turn off spigot when finished.
This property is not serviced by a municipal trash service. The owner has to take all garbage to the dump when full, so please be mindful of what you bring back to the property. Please compact all refuse to minimize the trash load. Composting is available for vegetable scraps, coffee grinds, etc. to recycle nutrients back into the earth.
When leaving the property, please keep a constant speed to avoid getting stuck on gravel driveway and travel slow on road.
Please let us know if you have any questions/concerns or see anything in need of repair. We hope you enjoy staying here and are grateful to share this land with you!
This place was amazing! A perfect getaway if you're into nature (but how can you be not if you're in Hawaii)! Very clean, private, and had everything we needed. Would recommend this place to anyone! Thanks for a great stay Silvan!
Cant say enough about the experience as a whole. A true getaway from the mayhem of Honolulu. It was amazing to have all the comforts of home while being able to drink coffee and eat a freshly picked fruit breakfast on the open deck. Birds chirping all around, sunlight poking through trees, hens coming around to say hi every once in a while, peacocks roaming, and even the sound of a goat every so often. Location is a bit far from being able to efficiently get everywhere on the island but thats part of what makes it so special. I recommend just picking one or two major destinations per day and enjoying the beautiful drives in every direction, then come back for a relaxing evening. Silva was a sweetheart and came around only when we needed things, otherwise we pretty much had the place to ourselves. They also provide snorkel gear, surf boards and beach towels!
What an amazing place to stay!! The place is exactly as described, even better! Tranquil romantic getaway with birds chirping in the morning, secluded and lovely! The bed is super comfy. The shower is hot! The fridge had some coffee which we enjoyed very much. Will always stay here when I am vusiting the North Shore!!
Such a beautiful and relaxing environment. On our arrival, the hosts were putting in the final touches to our stay... Including some fresh fruit from the local trees. This spot is true to the advertisement and would highly recommend this accommodation. Would love to come back for another stay.... Ps, Bones the kitty is adorable!
When I arrived, we were greeted with fresh local fruit and beautiful flowers. This lux-camping experience was really made absolutely wonderful by our hosts, and Silvan, in particular, made herself available to answer any questions. She recommended several awesome hikes and directed us to farmers market which form a large portion of the meals we had during our four day stay.
The safari tent is amazingly well installed (we survived a surprise mini-monsoon with no issues whatsoever) and is installed in conjunction with the canopy that covers the outdsie deck/kitchen, which was well-equipped with two-burner gas camp-stove/oven, sizable refrigerator and sink. The instant-on hot water shower in the bathroom was fantastic!
The property is convenient to the historic Haleiwa downtown which has no shortage of charming boutiques and which is also home to the famous Matsumoto's shave ice and Scoop of Paradise, an amazing small-batch ice cream maker.
We stayed here for the second half of our honeymoon and it capped a wonderful experience and the place is truly magical.. the light filtering through the trees, and the sounds of the tropical birds echoing.. it's an amazing thing.
Was made to feel very welcome. Beautiful place tucked away down a long drive way. Bird sounds and natural surroundings. Very nice to be away from it all. Was a great base to explore the North Shore. Thanks so much for the stay!
Staying at the tent was the highlight of our two week trip to Oahu, our only regret was only staying three nights! Upon arrival, Silvan greeted us warmly and made us aware of all the amenities. We also had an interesting chat about the surrounding area, and some of the local history. Overall Silvan is a great host and very knowledgeable of the area.
The tent itself was such a unique experience, and was the highlight of our trip. Days were spent hiking and surfing nearby on the North Shore. In the evenings we made use of the nice little outdoor kitchen setup to enjoy some homemade food with beautiful local ingredients (you can get so much amazing produce nearby, and at the Wailalua farmer's market).
An initial concern was the lighting in the morning, as one of us is a very light sleeper, but the tent was actually darker in the mornings than most hotel rooms I've stayed in. My girlfriend and myself both had the best sleeps of our trip in this tent.
Thanks, Silvan! We hope to stay with you again soon!
