Interaction with guests

I am a veteran traveler, and my husband is Viennese. We will be happy to answer, to the extent of our abilities, any questions guests might have about discovering aspects of Vienna.

The neighbourhood

This house is located in the 3rd district, just at the outskirts of the ancient city walls of Vienna, which is now the 1st district. It is a great residential neighborhood, upper end, clean, safe and quiet. There are great restaurants, museums and just beautiful places to see all along the way.

Getting around

It is in walking distance to the heart of Vienna and with easy access to both bus and metro. Modena Park bus station, and Stadt Park Metro. It is also very near to the airport train stop Wien Mitte, and the Hilton Hotel bus stop for those coming from the Airport by means of public transportation.

Other things to note

This is a private residence. Guests are kindly asked to respect the privacy of the families living in house.

This is a lovely place to stay. The location is wonderful and the apartment has all you need for a great stay - the coffee machine is especially welcome! Michaela is a helpful and welcoming host and made sure that we knew where all the local amenities were, recommended restaurants and generally made us feel at home. The street is very quiet and very conveniently located for public transport etc. We were here for the Vienna Marathon and it was easy and quick to get there from here. I would thoroughly recommend the apartment and Michaela as a host.

A wonderful apartment in a great location for our first visit to Vienna. It was exactly as described. We arrived late but it was no trouble for the owners who waited up to let us in and show us round. The rooms were large and warm, plenty of hot water for showers, great kitchen facilities and good wifi. I would recommend this apartment particularly for families as the extra bedroom was hard to find in Vienna.

We had a fantastic stay. The flat itself is exactly as it appears in the photos and it is such a safe, quiet block yet only 10-15 minutes walk to the city centre. We didn't need to use public transport at all. It is also very clean and warm, with plenty of maps/literature on Vienna. Michaela was very quick to reply to any queries we had, both before our stay and during it. She also let us leave our bags in her flat (a couple of floors down in the same block) on the day of departure (as we had an evening flight). Perfect host - we had the privacy of the flat but the hosts were close by if we needed them. We would definitely recommend staying here and hopefully will be back some day.

Everything you would want in a Vienna apartment. The apartment is lovely, with high ceilings and large windows giving a sense of space and lightness. The neighborhood is well situated, within easy walking or cycling distance to many areas we wished to visit (including points of historical interest, restaurants, cafes, bars, etc.). Looking forward to returning and will definitely recommend and book again. If you book, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for allowing us to use your apartment, till the next time Michaela.

Our first visit to Vienna two years ago was a memorable experience for all the right reasons. Imagine our delight in discovering that we enjoyed it even more the second time around. Michaela’s charming apartment and hospitality contributed a great deal to that. Michaela wasn’t there when we arrived but she made sure that the amiable and energetic Ernst greeted us and showed us around. The entire apartment was clean and fully appointed with everything we could need. The ceiling is spectacularly unreachable without the aid of the Vienna fire department. The huge draped windows, the period shutters and the original wooden floors serve to feed the impression that Wolfgang himself may be in the apartment above, curled over a writing desk penning his next sonata. Regarding the area, it is quieter than a post-apocalyptic landscape, though without the zombies—like the rest of the city, the immediate area is very safe. Wien Rennweg train station, with a half hour direct service to the airport, is five minutes walk away (don't miss the gold-domed jewel that is Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church sitting between the station and the apartment). For those of you planning to visit the Belvedere Palace, the lower entrance to the pristine gardens is also five minutes walk away. Spar supermarket? Yep. Five minutes walk away. Everything else within Vienna centre is within easy walking distance. Michaela’s apartment proves that it’s not always necessary to destroy the original charm of an old building’s interior in order for it to function in modern times. We really couldn't have asked for more.

My stay at Old Viennese Palais was superb! After a warm welcome by Michaela I discovered the apartment which is furnished exquisitely and exudes a comfortable yet luxurious charme. Also it was a delight to notice that the apartment is completely equipped for every aspect of living and you really feel at home - away from home. Highly recommendable and impeccable!

Michaela and her husband Phillip were very kind hosts. We came away with a new tip every time we encountered them in the hallway all weekend. And the apartment was lovely. Despite never having been to Vienna, the apartment felt somehow very Viennese with its soaring ceilings, creaky wood floors, squeaky doors, plenty of furniture for lounging and tall old windows. We really enjoyed our three nights here and the location is quite nice as well.
