About this listing
Simple room in a good apartment in a nice condo within the best part of Penang. Your own working place plus big common room with seaview balcony, kitchen.
Swimming pool, gym, ping-pong table, tennis court.
10 minute walk to the beach & night market
We rent out 3bedroom apartment that accommodate up to 6 guests. The room in question - is the small bedroom with a shared bathroom. It's simple - bed, table with a chair, aircon.. yes - there’s middle-size old-school, probably Malay-style drawers as well.
Pls dont expect to find designed furniture, marble fireplace and so on in the appartment. You'll be disappointed. It's all really simple, actually - exactly like pictured.
But we do our best to keep apartment clean and neat by european standard.
Apart from your own lockable bedroom you can use common living room (it’s huge), kitchen, balcony (morning coffee with a seaview and cooling breeze), laundry… and corridor (there is not much to do there, though).
Swimming pool available from 9am to 9pm, GYM as well, although it’s quite basic. Underground parking for one car is for your service.
Interaction with guests
Our family lives in the next block, so we can control from our window that you don't smoke on the balcony:)
When I free I can pick you up from the bus stop – FOC. Transfer from airport $25/ jetty $20/ bus terminal $25 can be arranged by request in advance.
We’ll be dropping in once in a while to make sure you are comfortable, to answer questions, give some advice… or just bore you with our presence:)
My main job is tour guiding, so I can give you lot of info for free, and real tour for money.
Yep, the neighborhood is nice. Best in Penang - that's for sure. That's side road from main Batu Ferringhi waterfront - 10 minute walk to beach/night market/Starbucks/hawker's. At the same time it’s pretty quiet. In a walking distance: couple of famous hawker stalls to try local food, quite a few restaurants and disco bars, Hard rock café, MacDonald's, KFC..
There is also an awesome and yet little-known jungle walk right behind the condo.
The nearest bus stop is called "Holiday Inn Resort". It's 600m (7min walk, as Qoogle says) from our condo.
15 min by bus to National Park, Butterfly farm, Tropical Spice Garden, Escape Extreme Park, Batik Museum.
Direct bus to Airport, Jetty, Komtar Bus Terminal, GeorgeTown.
Respect yourself, respect others!
No smoking, even on the balcony/corridor. The only place to smoke – outdoor. No drug, no partying, no pets are allowed. No shoes in the apartment except house slippers.
Quiet time after 9pm – no music, singing, shouting etc.
No pot & pan cooking. However, you can make simple meal using kettle, toaster and microwave.
After booking confirmation, I would ask you to send me the Guest List under this format for registration in the condo:
Full Name, Gender, ID number:

You might be asked to show your ID at the Guard House.

We are Ukrainian family currently living in Penang. You will mostly see me (Andriy). My wife is full time teacher in International school and my son – made in Malaysia boy - spends most of his time crawling on the floor and opening all drawers he can reach (but the changes come swiftly, soon he’ll be chasing girls in the playground, I’m sure of it).
We started our AIRBNB by helping our friends to find apartment for the holiday here in Penang. Then other friends asked to help… and now we keep this apartment, renting it out here with the occasional breaks for the friends.
I’m writing this after 5 month of AIRBNB experience and from what I had – I love it. Most of our guests were not just OK – they were awesome. I remember Justin from US was cleaning pool off leaves after night storm, Chris from New Zealand teaching me how starters in a modern lamps work, Darta from Latvia spent 1 month in my place, leaving it spotless clean after departure. There was Frenchman Michal, who turned out to be Ukrainian, there was Neil, who survived shower from aircon and left 5 stars review. And sure, I remember a great British couple who pocketed my Lonely Planet, I would surely host them again.
I can’t say I’m really social, but I like most of the people. I find most of them interesting.
I try to live a healthy life, but must admit my coffee addiction.
I’m also sport addicted – can’t live without tennis, and I’m reasonably good in badminton, ping-pong, frisbee, cycling.
The best thing done in my life - I married my wife. After that goes lot of boyish things like 100km run, climbing winter mountains, cycling in Spain and across Malaysia and so on.
