There is also a local fish market.

In the close vicinity, there is John Moore’s Bar, a local rumshack, reputed to be the best on the island. Sometimes they cook and sell locally-caught fish. Opposite is another bar which offers the best pork chops on the island on Fridays only.

Swimming with turtles

Just 1km south of Casaneta, on ‘Alleynes Bay’, you can swim with turtles which grow up to 4ft in diameter.

Magical and highly recommended!

CASANETA, House Rules
Just relax and have a good time.
The place is yours to enjoy- no restrictions. It is customary to say good morning/evening to neighbours when passing by!
Respect the property, the Owner, the neighbours and do not engage in lawless, disruptive behaviour.
We will treat you and your requirements with respect and expect the same from guests towards ourselves, our property, contents and any neighbour guests.
This includes keeping reasonable, respectful restrictions on all noise levels, especially in the evening since the core of our visitors in Barbados are on holiday to rest.
Your accommodation will be prepared for your arrival.
Starter packs don't usually apply as guests can choose their own provisions on arrival.
Your refundable security deposit is to cover keys and minor breakages you may have.
However, guests must also expect to meet the cost of any major damage they might accidentally cause although this has not so far been necessary.
For security purposes, the property is reserved for occupation only by the 4 or less guests named in your reservation.
We know you must be ready to relax and start your vacation, and we want you to make yourself at home right way. We just ask all guests to go through the home and report any dissatisfaction within the first 24 hours to us.
Barbados is generally a safe destination with a low crime rate. It is however sensible to secure the property when you are going out and also when you sleep. It is also not advisable to go for walks on any beach late at night. Most crimes that Barbados does have are opportunistic and these simple precautions will help to ensure that you have a trouble free vacation.
Free local telephone service. Do not make over sea calls! Free Wifi
Cooling: Barbados is a Tropical Island blessed with easterly trade winds. In your house you can take advantage of this by having the doors and windows open while you are in. Do remember to latch the doors when open, as the wind can be quite strong at times and will blow them in.
There are air-conditioning units provided for your comfort. When using the units please do not set the temperature below 21 degrees C. In addition, when the units are on, please ensure that the windows and doors in the room are closed, as the air conditioning will not work properly if they are open. Fans are also provided to assist in keeping the house cool.
Please help save the planet and keep your costs down. Don't forget when leaving the property to turn the A/C unit off.
Electricity: There are electrical points located throughout the house. Electricity in Barbados is 110V. You have also some 230V plug-ins. Its supply is very reliable and rarely will the power go out. Electricity consumption has to be paid at the end of the stay (meter reading)
Toilet: The toilet onsite can handle most things; however, we ask that you do not dispose of sanitary napkins, baby nappies, and large paper towels in the toilet. These items will clog the drains and we ask that you dispose of them in bins provided.
When leaving the beach, please use the outdoor taps to rinse sand from feet and clothing before entering the house. Any sand brought into the house must be swept out before your departure. must be swept out before your departure.

The neighbourhood is residential, quiet and peaceful.
Buses pass directly by the Beach Highway every 5 mins or so in both directions - taking one is a great experience.
For shopping Limegrove, Barbados' first mixed use lifestyle centre, is located in the heart of Holetown which is 5 minutes on the bus and is home to many of the world's leading retail brands. Unparalleled in Barbados and the Caribbean region, Limegrove incorporates a range of local and global retailers in a setting built around three distinctly different courtyards including boutiques, restaurants, delis, cafes, bars, gourmet foods, an art gallery, cinemas, a spa and salon, and a range of special event spaces. If you enjoy night life Holetown or Bridgetown are close by for late night entertainment and many other attractions.
We are in a Bajan 'gap' (small road) with friendly neighbours and some wild chickens!
Take a morning stroll along the beach, buy your lunch at the local fish market next to you, and then enjoy a rum or two at John Moores' Rum Shack. Hire a glass bottom boat from the beach to take you on a tour of the beautiful ocean. Swim alongside the turtles and the fish. Snorkel around the coral reefs, and then dry off by sunbathing in the hot Caribbean sun.
Enjoy your Holidays

Myself and the other guests who stayed at Manfred's property all have nothing but good reviews. In terms of location from the town centre to the beach and the local supermarkets. The property was brilliant. I definitely recommend as you will be pleasantly surprised not just with the value for money in terms of the property itself but the amenities make your stay more than more pleasant.

We had a wonderful week in Barbados and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Manfred’s house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood on the beautiful West coast, within walking distance to some of the best beaches on the island. While there are few local amenities in the immediate vicinity, the house is midway between Speightstown and Holetown, which are only a short drive away. We were welcomed on arrival by Stacey, the delightful housekeeper, and Manfred introduced himself at the end of our stay. All in all, this place is a great choice and highly recommended.

Casaneta is great place to stay in Barbados, it makes you feel like a local with lovely neighborhood and it's close to fish market and fruit and vegetables market. It takes just a short walk to get to amazing beach, we would definitely stay here again. Stacey was really helpful.

We had a great stay at Casa Neta. It truly measured up to and exceeded our expectations. A special thanks should go to Stacy who even babysat our two little kids so we could enjoy some time out. Thanks a lot and see you again soon. Will

The listing was as described, the only thing I didn't like was that you had to pay the electricity separately. I stayed for one week and my electric was $60, which I felt was a bit much for a week. This is the first place I've stayed that charged for it. Another thing only the master bedroom and living room have ac the other 2 bedrooms had fans which were hot in the night. Everything else was great.

Casaneta is lovely, clean, well situated and was the perfect home base for our two weeks in Barbados. If your first time to the Island and you desire peace and quiet away from the tourist trap areas and road traffic noise - presto - the west side in St. James is the place for you. Friendly and quiet neighbors, wild chickens and the odd monkey were added bonus :). Over our 2 week stay we used the bus and taxi's the first week and hired a car for the second. This gave us the interesting perspective of public transportation - buses run every 5-10 mins - as well as the independence of our own car. We did not meet Manfred in person, however his customer service representative - Stacey Waldron - is absolutely amazing! At our beck and call 24/7 she is both professional and intuitively personal, a valuable resource for all we needed to know about the Island.

Thanks Manfred , see you.
