The space

Guest access

The whole place is yours, with the city centre and gardens at your feet. Fully-equipped kitchenette with fridge, microwave, cooker, kettle and toaster. High-end bathroom with long vanity and large rain shower with a view.

We do also live in the building (best address in the city), so our 'insider' advice is just a phone-call or text message away - but we'll stay out of your hair :)

The neighbourhood

The whole city is walkable from Queen Victoria Street. Neighbours include the Cape Town Club, the Company Gardens & Cafe, the French Embassy and the Italian Consul - as well as two top hotels and the University of Cape Town's arts campus.

Getting around

Holyrood has a sedan taxi pick-up spot just outside, and is about 50m from an excellent MyCiti stop. Also 100m away from UCT's Jammie Shuttle service.

Other things to note

Holyrood is one of the most famous and iconic Art Deco buildings in Cape Town, and has featured in articles, books and film.

There is no parking on premises, meaning you'll fend for parking on the street - which is safe in our street. Parking is metered during the day only, and not on Sundays.

Robert's place was so nice! The location was great and the view was spectacular. We could see Table Mountain clearly from our window. The place is secured also. It's in a relatively quiet neighborhood just across Company Gardens (which is a nice place to walk during daytime). Robert was also easy to reach whenever we have questions. The place was clean and we absolutely loved the elevator in the building, it made us feel like we were in a movie. Our stay in Robert's place was definitely worth every penny!

This was my second time staying in the Hollyrood- the first was in Robert's other suite in the building. I opted for the slightly larger, and equally comfortable 7th floor unit. The view of Devil's Peak and the Company's Garden is spectacular from both, and a lovely way to wake up each morning. The unit is bright and clean with full kitchen (if you're inclined to cook with so many good restaurants nearby), comfortable bed, and a cozy sitting area to relax. Walking through the gardens is delightful on a sunny day, and being an avid walker, I found almost everything in easy walking distance. For anything further afield, I used Uber. Robert left clear instructions on entering the building and suite, as well as providing wifi access code, and was prompt to reply to messages. I highly recommend this suite for a pleasant stay in the Mother City.

Great location, walking distance to city center amenities and the bustle of long street but still very quiet and peaceful. Wifi and Netflix make spending time there comfortable and entertaining, and the view of the mountain from outside the window is great to wake up to. Would recommend it for anyone traveling
