The neighbourhood

Trastevere: a residential area full of restaurants and bars, the most characteristic during the day and the most fun at night. The narrow alleys with typical "San Pietrini" floor, small squares full of windows and drying laundry, outdoor markets, centenarian shops, artisan laboratories, bars for a drink, the homely "hostarie", theaters , cinemas, supermarkets, all kinds of shops, all crowded during the day by the "trasteverini" (it was once a pride claim to be) and at night the whole city that flows along streets and squares, to fill hundreds of restaurants, pubs and bars, chatting and drinking a glass under the stars.

Getting around

This location is strategic for the public transport too. In fact, just at 100 meters, to Viale Trastevere, you can take bus Tram No.8 or Line H to go to Largo di Torre Argentina, Navona, Campo de' Fiori, Pantheon, Termini Station. Anyway from the apartment it is just an "affordable" walk to go to all turistic places.
If starting from the apartment, and climbing on foot to Via Garibaldi, with a scenic stroll you will reach the Gianicolo, from which enjoy the most classic panoramic view of Rome. If you do not want to walk, you can take bus 116.
Tram 8 and Line H, in the other direction, connect with Trastevere Station. Ostiense Station in 10 minutes.

Mario is a great host, great communication and very helpful. He was on time and totally on top of everything. We even arranged a car pickup to and from the airport with him (highly recommended, your vacation starts the moment you land). Location couldn’t be better. Only steps from all the hip scene of restaurants and bars which Trastevere is all about, but the street itself is quite sleepy and quiet. There are 2 grocery stores, a meat store and cheese store all right next to each other at the end of the street (few doors down). Trams and busses are conveniently close by (friendly suggestion: ALWAYS use as your guide. do not rely on local transportation maps. very confusing.) But walking across the bridge into town is much more pleasant.. a 15 minute stroll gets you to Campo de' Fiori, and the pantheon is a 10 mins stroll away from there through lovely streets. The apartment itself is very clean, good beds and equal size bedrooms. Bathroom is really nice and fully remodeled, and has a washing machine (we didn't use it but it looks new, I think you would hang dry your clothes, Italian style on the line out the window). Tons of hot water, since the apt has its own water heater. The kitchen serves as the main common area, since the living room was converted into a bedroom. It's a basic, small kitchen with basic sundries provided and supplies for cooking provided. The apt windows face an inner court yard keeping the apt cool and quiet but quite dark if that's a concern. A perfect home base for a Rome experience, and Mario will be there for you when you need anything!

We reallyenjoyed Mario place. The beds are comfortable and big. We slept with our baby in one and had more space than at home. Both bedrooms are leading to the patio, so there was no street noise. The flat was clean and Mario always available. We could leave our things before checkin time and could stay longer. All together just great.

Trastevere is an absolutely delightful slice of Rome to be in with great bars and restaurants, as well as really nice and friendly people. Our stay for five days at Mario's apartment was an so relaxed and the apartment was everything that was described. Cozy, clean and in a great part of Trastevere that allowed us easy access to transportation. Mario was very helpful and his assistants, Galia and Marco were both so pleasant and accomodating, looking to our needs and fixing any issues that arose as quickly as possible, which by the way was only one, which was with the WiFi which was fixed very quickly. Mario was also very gracious and allowed us to leave late on our check out and arranged all the airport transfers for us, which we were very thankful for. All in all, a great stay and would definitely stay with Mario again when going back to Rome. Grazie Mario and Arriverderci!!
