Come stay at the Mad Hatters Cottage just off historic Main Street in Farmington, CT. Visit the town George Washington once called "the village of pretty houses". The cottage is walking distance to Miss Porter's School, a grocery store, restaurants, & many attractions, including:

Hill-Stead Museum
Stanley-Whitman House
Farmington River
Farmington Canal Heritage & River Trails

The cottage was built in the 1800s, has 2 stories, 1 bedroom, & almost 800 square feet.

The space

The cottage was built sometime in the 1800s and originally served as an outbuilding to a farm. It may have been a candle shop at one point and the first radio in Farmington was believed to have been in this cottage. The cottage was completely renovated in 2016, but still showcases the charm of the historic structure. The original stone foundation is visible, as is the beautiful wide board pine flooring and tin light fixtures.

The cottage is 800 square feet and 2 stories. It has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a living room, eat-in kitchen, and laundry room. There is a small narrow staircase in the cottage and, as such, it is not handicap accessible.

Guest access

The entire cottage is available for your use.

Wonderful place to stay! We stayed for one night for a concert in Hartford, but it would be great for an even longer stay. Has all the features of home, and is very clean and quaint. Would definitely stay here again!

Our family had a great visit here. The cottage space was clean and well-equipped with everything you need. We enjoyed a morning walk through town to Truffles Bakery for breakfast, which our kids especially loved. Definitely recommend.

What a wonderful space! Secluded and quiet, yet central to everything I needed for the weekend. A fantastically appointed kitchen allowed me to make my own food, inviting atmosphere with an amazing outdoor area to relax and enjoy all that Farmington and the surrounding has to offer. I whole-heartedly recommend Mad Hatters cottage to anyone looking for a nice New England weekend get-away!

We spent a month in this charming cottage. The building has been very sensitively restored and is exceptionally well presented, and beautifully decorated. It is located in the centre of picturesque Farmington and within easy reach of Hartford and New Haven. The cottage is ideally suited for long stays because of the self-catering and laundry facilities. It has its own separate entrance and parking area. The hosts were welcoming and extremely obliging and responsive to enquiries. Alex in particular was enormously helpful when we had a problem with our rented car. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this property.
