JULY 2017 UPDATE - Now offering free breakfasts to all our guests!
Finca Coco Loco is a rustic farm located 9 km from Granada on the slopes of volcano Laguna de Apoyo.
We offer a private room with double bed, sealing fan and private bathroom.
Enjoy a natural environment, great bird watching on our very relaxed 30acre farm just minutes away from swimming Masaya, Granada, Managua and the gem of the country, theLaguna de Apoyo.

The space

We are a large peramulture farm in the heart of Nicaragua and for 8 years our focus has been on improving the land by planting a food forest, while improving the comfort zones and manifesting community.
We have bananas, coconut, avocado, mango, some citrus and many other exotic fruit trees. There are three large fields on the property, a huge rancho, a large goat herd, and lots of trails to explore.

Guest access

Finca Coco Loco is easy accessible by bus or taxi from Granada or Managua. We also offer private Airport pick up that will bring you right to the farm for $40. Buses pass by our gate every 45 minutes and can take you to the Masaya market, the Lagune de Apoyo or Granada.

Interaction with guests

We offer any support required to make your stay as comfortable as possible and we can generally find time to chat after the sun goes down.

I've liked nearly all of the Airbnb places I've stayed at, but Michael's is very special in being not only just a place to stay – which is usually what you're looking for – but also a life experience. In the first place it's a farm all right, but nothing like what you ordinarily imagine a farm to be. Also, the mango trees constituting the farm are in a second field out to the back, so what the guest experiences is actually not the farm but – aside from the guest house, which is very attractively and comfortably fixed up – the roadside foodie operation manned by a substantial extended-family collective of Nicaraguans living on the property, with a charmingly personable Ukrainian student named Anton serving as the main chef, turning out exceptionally fresh plates of a regional Nicaraguan dish called a güirila, which you really should stop by and try even if you don't stay there. Michael himself is a fascinating person you'd want to know in any event, but rather than going into his personality I'll stick with the place and highly recommend it to anyone passing through the area. I'd say backpackers should stop over on their way to the lagoon (which they can reach from Michael's via bus or taxi), while people with cars might consider staying there for their whole time at Apoyo, unless they really want to overnight down on the water, or can't get by with the personal hotspot on their phone for Internet access.

We had a wonderful stay at Michaels home. The room is amazing!! You're in the middle of nature.. Michael helps you with all the questions you have and is very friendly. You have good acces to granada and masaya. Just take a taky for 7 dollars or the local bus.

This was a quiet rural setting with beautiful views. I had everything I needed. The hosts were reserved and that was hard sometimes.

La description présente bien la place. Endroit très tranquille. On a bien dormi.

After a varied life in California, Arizona and Oregon, I decided to venture offshore and find a slice of tropical paradise--so by a circuitous route I ended up buying a dilapidated farm in this relaxed 3rd world country. We have been creating sustainable community here for some…
