The attached bath is a modern moment in history. We saved the 1970 yellow tub and toilet and decorated to include the uniqueness while adding a manly feel with the electric fireplace and slate stone wall. Deer antlers and all.Full, hot, homemade breakfast served at 8:30 ..Pumpkin spiced pancakes with apples, fresh fruit and yogurt are some examples!

I couldn't have asked for a better place to say. Such a warm, gracious host who has spared no attention to detail. Beautiful home, so comfortable, great snacks and amenities. Warm, inviting and very convenient. Great for singles, couples and friends (family stays, too)!

I was looking for a last-minute spot after hiking Effigy Mounds all day, and Laurie messaged me back within moments of my initial request. The Driftless Region is a beautiful place, and Brickmaker's was the perfect spot to rest and recuperate after a long day of driving and outdoor fun. Laurie has remodeled the historic building into a wonderfully cozy and immaculately clean bed and breakfast. The food was delicious and the bed was a dream. You'll be glad you stayed here--I am.

The surrounding area had beautiful bluffs within a 10 minute drive. Laurie was a wonderful attentive hostess who provided an exceptionally tasty and diverse breakfast. She provided complimentary bottled water and soda, as well as fresh baked cookies. The building itself was beautifully restored, and the breakfast dining area was beautiful! Our room was very clean and plenty spacious, and the bed and pillows were clean and very comfortable. The only con was we were able to hear several train horns that Friday night very clearly which made it tough for us to sleep. The second night, it was only 1 train, so we slept much better.
