We stayed here for 2 nights and had a lovely stay! Very comfortable and clean cottage with everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. Very close to the local pub and local hotel, both of which served excellent food! Belinda met us and gave us a lovely welcome, great communication beforehand too! Would definitely recommend and hope to return!

We had a fantastic two-night stay here with our one year old daughter. The house was very homely, clean and a great base for a weekend in North Yorkshire. Belinda was a very welcoming host, the guest manual was very informative and the extra treats of chocolate, crisps and wine were a lovely touch! Hovingham has everything you need within walking distance (2 pubs, shop, bakery and children's playground) and is a 15 minute drive from some of the larger towns. If you're travelling with little ones, we'd recommend trips to National Centre For Birds Of Prey in Helmsley or Captain Barney's, a small soft play centre and cafe in Malton.

Fantastic stay at home cottage. We visited with our two girls (aged 7 and 20 months). Belinda (the host) was most helpful sorting a travel cot and high chair prior to our arrival and pointing out places to visit including a local park. The property is beautiful and well furnished with every home comfort. The pub next door doesn’t get noisy at all, the food is great and the landlord couldn’t be more accommodating. There’s a quaint little market on the first weekend of each month which was lovely to potter around. Plenty of national trust properties (if your a member) and only 30 minutes drive into York itself. All in all a lovely trip and would like to come back and visit the area soon.

Home Cottage is compact and well laid out, with great care taken to provide everything you could need - and a few extras. We found it lovely and warm, cosy and comfortable, and immaculately clean. Our boys enjoyed the attic room. The bathrooms are ample and well arranged and the kitchen well equipped. We enjoyed visits to the excellent village stores ( almost next door), the village bakery and some very good local pub meals, especially the Crown and Cushion at Welburn. The village is very attractive and there are lovely walks in the surrounding Howardian hills.

The cottage was perfect, Hovingham was much more interesting than expected. Hovingham Stores was two doors down, the Malt Shovel pub was next door and did excellent food, 200 yards up the road was the Wolsey Hotel which also did excellent food. Plenty of walking on the moors helped keep the waistline in check. Highly recommended.
