Description

The space

A Charming Family Farm Cottage that is eclectic in style. The living space is typical Southwest themed that has a queen sized sofa couch, cable TV and a private full bath with jacuzzi tub. Down the hall we have a mini kitchen with a coffee pot, microwave oven and dorm sized fridge (we do not have a full kitchen in this space). There is also a small grill on the deck if you wish to grill. The colorful main bedroom has a garden theme that compliments the gardens outside it's windows. Conveniently located to the main bed room and the smaller bed room is an additional small full bath. This is part of a larger cottage that has been divided into two. You will have your own private space and private entrance.

Guest access

Our guests are more than welcomed to roam the property. We have tables outside for you to leave your troubles behind and to commune with nature.
There are vegetable gardens, aquaponic gardens, chickens and goats who call our place home. We welcome folks to take a tour of our farm with the owners. During the summer there is a above ground pool available and a large deck off of the main house. Our sunsets are the best in the area.

Interaction with guests

Having traveled extensively ourselves, we understand what it is like to be a stranger in a strange place. We are very hospitable to our visitors who are new to Austin and the Hill Country. Both owners are native Texans and Austinites and know the city and the hill country well. We can provide you with information and directions to local restaurants, Wedding Venues, breweries and parks. We will be as accessible as you want.

The neighbourhood

The 4+ acre family farm is on the way to Blanco, Johnson City and Fredericksburg and is located in the middle of large neighborhood developments and is 20 mins southwest from downtown Austin and 10 mins to Dripping Springs which is known as the Gateway to the Hill Country and the Wedding Capital of Texas. We have 30+ Wedding Venues in the area. There are wonderful local eateries and restaurants close by such as Pieous, The Salt Lick, Stanley Family Farmhouse Pizza, Trattoria Lisina, Thyme and Dough and much, much more. In addition, there are many local breweries and wineries near by. We are across the street from Belterra and down the road from Highpointe, The Vistas of Sawyer Ranch and the Polo Club.

Getting around

Unfortunately, getting around requires a vehicle of some sort. We do not recommend that you ride bicycles on the roads around our place, but there are many trails for walking and bike riding across the street.

Other things to note

Due to our Texas Hotel/Motel taxes, I have increased the price of our listing. This increase will help pay the taxes. We still want to give you a wonderful affordable stay.

You will have your own driveway, covered parking and entrance to the cottage. We do have lots of chickens around the property so we ask that you drive slow down the drive.

We also are a Transfarming Learning Center dedicated to sharing knowledge and skills on how to become more self sufficient. Private classes are available for an additional fee. Just email us in case you are interested.

There is a 30 amp full hookup RV site available for additional charge. Contact us via the Airbnb host email for more information.

A charming cottage! We loved all the farm live: ducks, goats, chickens, dogs, birds and the 'wild' deer walking on the grounds. Nice and quiet evenings to sit outside of the cottage and perfect area for our toddler to explore. Breakfast at the main house was fabulous.

This lovely cottage was just as we expected and hoped for! It is well taken care of and very homey. Alice made sure we had everything we needed and was so thoughtful. It was great fun to see all the animals around the property too. Thank you, Alice!

We all loved how welcomed we felt! She treated us like family. We very much enjoyed all the animals, they were all in harmony with each other. Everything was thoughtfully placed in the home. Trader Joe's coffee, HEB half and half creamer. Plenty of fluffy towels. Very comfortable Queen bed, with a plush Down blanket was my personal favorite. We planned on hiking at Pedernales Falls State Park earlier in the morning, so Alice thoughtfully offered to make us breakfast tacos for the road, plus a huge container of fresh fruit! The eggs benedict the next day at the BIG House was a real treat!! We got to pet the goats and dogs, learn about Trans Farming and Aquaponics. Very well rounded stay, we would recommend Alice's place to anyone wanting to get away and connect with Nature!

We can't say enough good about Alice's cabin. The cabin itself was perfect- clean, comfortable, quiet. Alice gave us the best garden (and critter!) tour which we learned so much from. The best part of our stay, however, were the delicious breakfasts and the time she (and family) spent with us. We hope to be back very soon!

I along with my husband Mark, own a small family farm (Whitestone Family Farm) outside of Austin, Texas. (Dripping Springs) We love our farm and everything that goes on in it. I have 12 goats, chickens, a large aquaponic system, gardens and are working towards trans farming. In addition we have bee hives.

I have traveled extensively and my favorite past time is to hang out with my two young adult daughters. We love to eat out, drink coffee, hike and visit new places.

Things I can't live without...

1. The word of God
2. Coffee
3. Friends
4. Good food
5. Family traditions

I am easy going and my family definitely knows how it is to be a stranger in a strange land. We are very hospitable and will visit with just about anyone. We are very casual, unpretentious and just basic good folk. (I hope)....
