The space

The house is a very special place for me and my family. Several family members contributed to the renovation and building of this home. The countertops were made from a maple tree my grandfather tapped for sap (to make maple syrup). You can see the tap holes in the wood and the long dark brown streaks the tap holes left. We also like to watch movies in style so we put in a 73" TV for your viewing pleasure. Sunsets are amazing. The house faces the mountains and there is nothing better than sipping a local microbrew while sitting next to the fire outside on the blue stone patio.

Guest access

Full access other than a storage closet.

Interaction with guests

Yes, but we've tried to make things as self service as possible.

We enjoyed our stay at Travis's place! The kitchen is absolutely beautiful with the gorgeous maple counters from their family's old maple tree! It had all up to date kitchen amenities and huge tv screen. The outside is beautiful with an outside deck with picnic table and gas grill. The yard is beautifully landscaped with flowers and a squash plant that we were able to pick from and bring home. There was a cute welcome basket with pancake mix and vermont maple syrup with a personalized note. The bathroom is state of the art with an awesome shower. The bedrooms are very comfortable. There is a great pizza place that is a 5 minute walk from the house and Dream Cafe has great breakfast sandwiches and the best mocha lattes I've ever had! Travis's mom Lynda is a great hostess. She was very quick to answer any questions and was very lovely to talk to. We will be back!

Exactly as described! Travis's place is so comfortable and relaxing! What is really great is the location..Johnson is a small town but very close to all the attractions of Vermont. But if you stay please do spend a day and only do things and eat at places within walking distance of Travis's place--Sterling Market which will please any foodie, Wicked Wings ( they are super wings)..Johnson Woolen Mill for woolens and gifts.. all great businesses that will appreciate your custom and you won't be disappointed!! And the Rail Trail too! For us it was exactly the vacation we had in mind..quiet and relaxing and a real small town feel to get us a break from traveling and a big city life .. really enjoyed s'mores at the fire pit too! Thanks for sharing your home, Travis ( and thanks also Linda!)

My family and I loved staying at Travis's place. The home was clean, comfortable, and close to everything in the region for hiking, food, and other activities. Travis's mother, Lynda, was extremely friendly and recommended a fun local event with live music and great food which we really enjoyed. The large TV, outside fireplace, and great views made it a great stay for us. We hope to stay again in the future.

We loved staying at Travis's house. Great location, central to many hiking trails and day trips, plus the town of Johnson is walkable from the house and is such a gem. We enjoyed the open layout of the public spaces downstairs for cooking breakfasts and dinners, the backyard is great for games or relaxing by the fire pit, and the bedrooms were comfortable. The bathroom is giant (with plants!) and you can see all the work their family has put into making this house special. Travis and his mom, Lynda, were super helpful and available for questions and recommendations.

We stayed through 4th of July this year. The space was even nicer than described. They had everything you could need while staying in a home on vacation, basically no need to bring anything! The house was perfect for our family size; two couples, a baby and 2 dogs. We loved spending time in the outdoor space with its beautiful view and nice amount of space for the dogs to run around. We ended up cooking in the house every night because the kitchen was so pleasant to spend time in. Best vacation ever thanks to Travis and his mom Lynda. I would give them and the place more than 5 stars if I could! We will be back!

Gorgeous home in a darling town. Great access to cycling, hiking, and running trails during the summer. The people in and around town were friendly and welcoming. We took advantage of the farmer's markets and breweries in the area and even popped in at the Concept2 headquarters and got an impromptu tour! A great vacation for folks looking to get outdoors or just relax in a beautiful setting. Travis and his mother were wonderful hosts--they left us a basket of local goodies and even OJ in the fridge. Super clean, comfortable home. Highly recommended!
