I will start by saying that I am dissapointed and upset with the dishonesty of this review. There was a problem with the booking in that they had only paid for one room and were expecting two rooms so we discussed this with them when they arrived and offered a second room at half price which they said they were happy about. She also said that she had not much money and that they only had 1 bank card between all 4 of them and that was not working, which sounded a bit suspicious but we trusted them anyway and agreed that they didn't have to pay cash and could transfer the money when they got home. We only asked for the cash at the end because we found out she had money for private taxis, tours, expensive snacks and there next accomadation so suspected she was not being entirely truthful to us. Still after talking about our concerns openly with her, we gave her the benefit of the doubt once again and agreed she could pay later. After reading all the lies in this review it is clear that she is not an honest person and we were right to doubt her truthfulness. I am not expecting she will transfer the money she agreed to pay.
We have a local chef, a young mother from the village who comes only when we have guests so that they can enjoy some really authentic Sri Lankan food. It takes hours to prepare the curries in the traditional way, even the spices like pepper and cinnamon are not from a plastic packet, they are home grown organically and crushed by hand in a pestle and mortar fresh everyday and vegetables harvested each day from our land when possible so we can really provide the freshest, best quality food we can. We had tried to explain this to her which is why we had asked the day before if they would like rice and curry for lunch and dinner and they had said yes. After rummaging through our private belongings when we were not around they found the old menu and decided not to eat anything here meening a lot of food we had prepared had to go to waste. We do give some left overs like rice to the dogs, cats, and chickens but not everything is suitable for them. The reason we had stopped using the old menu (rice & curry Rs.500, pasta Rs.400, sandwiches Rs.300) was because firstly our limited solar system was not able to run the fridge all the time so we could not keep butter and cheese fresh and secondly because no one else who had came had ordered pasta or sandwhiches and would prefer to eat the traditional Sri Lankan food whilst in Sri Lanka. We do our best to please everyone so if they had said that they dont want to eat Sri Lankan food and would rather have pasta or cheese sandwhich then we would of arranged this for them no problem. Instead they were not honest about it and spent as much as they would of done on good quality food, on biscuits, crisps and chocalte which they ate in their room. It is up to the individual what they would like to eat but that is why we ask before hand.
Our dogs might of been panting but that its because it is hot here and thats there way of cooling down, they can not sweat in the areas covered by fur (most of their body) so they pant to cool down when they have been running around playing. Apart from the bowls of water we leave for them, our land is surrounded by a river, which you have to cross to get here, and being free range dogs, never tied or locked up, they are free, as they often do, to go to the river whenever they like to cool down or have a drink. They are never short of water.
There were no other guests were here who left "After seeing how elise and her friends were being treated as guests". Everyone else has been happy with their stay here and anything they have not been happy about they have left honest feedback about which we really appreciate so that we can improve these things for future guests.
I'm shocked at all the lies Elise has written in the review and knowing know that she is a dishonest person, although she comed across very friendly, I would not recommend her to anyone.
Please read the other reviews if you want honest opinions or come and see us for yourself.
