Just as pictured. Great wifi. Comfy bed. Cold air. Hot water. Clean. Safe. Despite the building being near the pool...Quiet.
Should you need anything Christian is just a phone call away. He was pretty nice. I didn't see him much. But then, I was always on the go. For $5 a day, reach out to Simone for all your housekeeping needs. And, should you need laundry done, $10 will take care of you as needed at Sandcastle.
I really liked the keyless entry that Christian uses for the unit. And I made use of the safe he had in the unit to store a few things.
Sandcastle is right in Ochi. It's steps away from Margaritaville, the movies, clubs, restaurants, supermarkets, and fresh market. Yes, steps away from everything, bus also far enough away from everything to have a little seclusion.
The beach is right behind the complex. However, you have to access it from up the road due to construction of the road behind Sandcastles. You can't see the water from the apartment because of the construction barriers. Don't fret. The landscaping at Sandcastles was beautiful, so that was okay-even though the main reason I booked with Christian was for the ocean view.
At the present, you will have to ask for a beach pass from the front desk. The pass will accommodate up to 4 people. Also, you will be asked to wear a wristband. But, I chose not to wear it and kept it in my purse. I don't like to be seen as a tourist when I'm on the streets.
For eats, there was a restaurant on location. However, I often went to My Favorite Place, a local restaurant down the road. Ask them for directions at the front desk. Whether you want breakfast, lunch, or dinner, for $3-$5* you will be fed a tasty local dish. Try the Peanut & Plantain Porridge at breakfast. But, get there early because lunch starts at about 10 am. For lunch/dinner try their Curry Goat or Cow Foot dish. And send my love to Marc & Obama. They really were friendly and I enjoyed talking with them.
* Dinnertime Dining In is about $500 JMD, which is roughly $5 USD
1. Tuesday is 2 for 1 night at the movies in Margaritaville. But, purchase your tickets before 4 pm. They sell out early.
2. Try Devon House Ice Cream. Can't tell you which is my favorite flavor because I have sampled them all and was never disappointed.
3. The farmers market in the middle of Ochi is really bustling on Friday & Saturday. But, they are open during the week.
What I miss...
(URL HIDDEN) Love.
