My family and I stayed at Cockles for a long weekend break and had a great time. The lights and heating were on when we arrived and the home was well equipped. The garden is great for kids to play in supervised, and location isolated with a lovely village and a very well stocked Spar a few miles up the road. Great pubs in Long Melford fifteen minutes drive away and Colchester an hour. The house is quirky with books filling every wall and corner. Bedrooms comfortable and a large dining table for meals. Would recommend.

A quirky, cozy cottage with amazing books lining pretty much every wall. It was perfect for us - the kids and dog loved playing in the garden, and we enjoyed nice walks to country pubs. The cottage has lots of sofas & board games, and a comfy well worn feel with pretty much everything we needed. For the price, Cockles would be very very hard to beat - though if you it's important to you that everything is "just so" you might want to pay a little more.

Thanks Mark for a wonderful place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet countryside setting and the fact that a number of family members could all stay together.

Fantastic break. Loads of room for the kids to play in the garden, this place is wonderful for kids. Pretty nice for adults too. The decor is basic and a bit old-fashioned but homely and fairly indestructible. The house has plenty of sofas, thousands of books, the most bizarre piano I've ever played, and easy parking. It's pretty remote - the local village (2 miles away) isn't remarkable but there are some beautiful villages and pubs within 5 or 6 miles. All in all, highly recommended. Andrew
