House in a natural reserve terraced with an artist studio. Sa Gravera farm. Two floors, garaged, private pool and barbeque. Spacious living room with spectacular views of the mountain. Air conditioning and two chimneys. 25.000 m2 farm with three donkeys.

The space

The house is in a Unesco natural reserve (Sierra de Tramuntana). Totally open to visits, it was built recently. It has three bedrooms next to a bathroom and a living room in the upper level, all of which are open to the scenery. Downstairs there's the built-in kitchen with a large living room open to a terrace on one side and the natural garden with a barbeque on the other, as well as a second bathroom. From here you can access the natural garden which is an old quarry, currently covered in greenery, where this very special pool is located.
The laundry room is next to the garage with a capacity for two vehicles.
The house has all the necessary amenities for today's standard of living in a European country.

Guest access

The lodging is a guest house connected to the main house in the farm, where the owner, who is an artist, lives and works. The shared area is just the entrance tot he farm and the access path (about 200m).
The pool, the surrounding garden and the barbeque are of private use of the guests and they are clearly defined spaces for your privacy. Also, the guests are free to walk around the farm where three donkeys live freely.

Interaction with guests

The owner lives in the same home as a neighbor. Although the guests have full privacy, they can easily connect with him for any questions or requests, and he'll be willing to help as much as he is able to.

Other things to note

The main trekking and mountain biking routes through Sierra de Tramuntana stem from the farm. It is a special residence for lovers of winter travel with many days of sunlight and stunning landscapes to walk around, enjoying the spectacle of the almond trees blooming in February. Spring and autumn are especially beautiful and mild, though you may have one or two stormy days, which themselves are quite spectacular to witness from this location and inevitably lead to rainbows and very sunny days.
Summer offers a full range of possibilities: from the peace and tranquility of the pool and the barbeque, to the bustling beaches or exploring small secluded bays a short drive away.
Also, Palma, one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, is 30 minutes away by car; you may also take a train downtown from the town station.

Sa Gravera, in the spirit of Frank Lloyd Wright, is truly of its location. Our family had the most wonderful holiday at the foot of the mountains - the view from Castell Alaró was magnificent and well worth the climb - we were up with the black vultures! We will miss the donkeys!

We had such an amazing trip, it was everything we could ask for. The pool was so different and amazing and the villa itself was beautiful. It is so secluded but only a few minute drive to the local town and so is a perfect location. We would love to come back one day.

This is the most amazing villa in a beautiful setting. Away from the hordes of holiday makers but close enough to almost anywhere on the island. Lovely to escape back to total peace and quiet at the end of a busy sightseeing day. The villa is set up in the hills but very easy to access. The building itself is beautifully designed and furnished, and equipped with everything you need for your stay. The swimming pool is a little piece of heaven. Mendi greeted us on arrival and gave us all the information we needed. He was then available at the end of a text or phone the whole time we were there but always remained discrete - you would not know that he and his wife lived next door. Alaro is a great village close by with all the amenities you would need. There was a festival on whilst we were there which was great fun to watch and the fantastic Carrefoc (fire festival) on the last night was absolutely spectacular. The walk up to Alaro castle was quite a feat but worth the phenomenal views. We will hopefully return here again - perhaps out of season to see Mallorca from a different perspective.Thank you Mendi

We stayed for 12 days in July.August and had a fantastic time, pictures don't do it justice. The house is lovely, the views are amazing and the pool that is perfect for lengths and playing around in. Village is about 2 miles and although a longish walk a nice one. Mendi and Lola (owners) were very helpful and our kids enjoyed stroking the dogs and feeding the donkeys.

The house is absolutely beautiful - the pictures don't do the place justice. It is nestled opposite two mountains in the Mallorcan countryside, surrounded by the sound of cicadas and bathed in sunshine. We visited in June when it was very hot so the swimming pool was a welcome refresher when we needed it. You will definitely need a car here - there is ample secure parking - as it is tucked away from the town. Situated between Alaro and Orient, it is a quick drive to the supermarket and restaurants. There is not much within walking distance but perhaps within biking distance. The roads on the way to the house are narrow and windy so don't hire a big car or it will just be stressful. Our 5 door normal sized car was just about fine. The house is well located for daytrips around Mallorca. 30mins from Palma, 1 hour from Deia, 45mins-1 hour from the south and east coast. It was the perfect base for us to explore the island. The donkeys are curious and friendly and provide a handy alarm clock in the morning . There are a couple of dogs who live on the grounds but apart from being excited to see you they are no bother and are friendly and well behaved. A quick 'vamos' and they'll be out of your way. Mendi is a fabulous host who met us on arrival and showed us around. He was contactable if we needed him but we found we had everything. I wouldn't say the house is very child friendly as there are steps to the pool and it is located in an old quarry so lots of rocks and little hills around. So definitely older children or adults only for the best experience. Overall we had a fabulous time and we can't wait for our next visit! Thank you Mendi!

This home is just absolutely breathtaking and a must stay destination. As soon as we arrived Mendi was there to meet us and we had good contact in the run up to arrival. He made us feel at home and gave a very good tour explaining how everything worked. The beautiful views from every window of this modern, quirky looking home are the perfect back drop for either an active or super relaxed holiday. It is perfectly located - you're never far from anywhere on the island and the quaint town of Alaro only 5 minutes away. I would 100% stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great stay at the start of April. Perfect location for exploring the island, by car, bike or on foot. Mendi (and the dogs and donkeys!) were very welcoming but accommodation still felt private. Bit chilly to use the pool but imagine it would be perfect in summer!
