Farm is in an idyllic rural setting. Well positioned for access to tourist attractions: beaches, city and mountain. From the moment you turn onto the driveway you can feel yourself de-stressing. A self-contained modern sanctuary with a luxury feel. We will provide breakfast ingredients for your
first morning on the farm either continental or fresh farm eggs when available. Milk is local from Dolly's on Manutahi Rd organic and unpasteurised. Please use herb garden outside Te Awa.

The space

Only 2 years old so fresh and new with all the mod cons. A self contained sanctuary with a luxury feel that offers an indoor/outdoor flow from living area to an inviting alfresco entertainment area. The apartment is heated in the winter with underfloor solar heating completely adjustable to your individual preferences! We try to use cleaning products that are good for you and the environment. Please ask if there is anything missing from your cottage that you need to make you stay more comfortable eg. a bigger pot or even a crock- pot. We have spare juicers if you would like to use while here-sandwich press, pie maker, popcorn maker, pasta machine and a waffle making machine also! I am a bit embarrassed now Too many machines. Fun to use though and you are welcome to borrow!

Guest access

Te Maunga Cottage has its own grounds and a lovely big deck where guests like to sit and enjoy the scenery with a cuppa or even breakfast. Ask if you would like to use the barbecue. Greg will set you up! The farm is great for walking especially down to the Waiongana River for a picnic or even a swim in the warmer months. Out the gate and we can direct you to some other walking or biking options. We even have a couple of bikes available. We have a very friendly dog Ricky who likes to retrieve sticks and balls, 3 cats(Buddy-champagne, Zeb-tortoiseshell and Pepper -black and white and the only girl) chickens, beef cattle, cows plus horses- two of which have given birth recently to Diago and Coral. The neighbours have miniature horses Very very cute!

Interaction with guests

Greg and I are on site for any help you need. We love to share our knowledge of the best local attractions and have lots of user friendly phamplets and tourist guides.

Other things to note

Rooms have coffee and a good tea selection. The milk supplied is from Dollys organic and unpasturised. The local supermarket is only a 5 min drive at the local township of Waitara. Closes at 7.30 though! Lots of other supermarkets cafes and restaurants in New Plymouth only 10-15 min drive.

Gosh, where to begin on what a fabulous place this is. We were so cosy, warm as toast. It was rainy during our 5 day stay, but we were able to dry ourselves out between tramps. Gayle so easy to talk to, friendly, and very approachable. The cottage is beautifully appointed. Comfy bed, great bathroom and kitchen. Close to shops. We cooked all our own meals. New Zealand has fabulous produce. Such a pleasure to stay on a farm. Herbs, veggies, animals. The surroundings so peaceful and enjoyable we didn't want to leave. The experience is one that will stay with us for a long time. Lots of amazing walks close by. Highly recommended!

Response from Gayle:
Hi Nina Ha ha ha that is so funny I have been having a good chuckle about the drawer. I will fix all those things you mentioned. It is so-o good to get some constructive feedback. The bigger pot has come up once before also. You are a very good scribe and thank you for the fabulous review Cheers Gayle

This is a lovely modern self contained accommodation. All you need and extras too. Comfy bed and pillows, wonderful shower, nicely equipped kitchen. Out in the country but minutes to the city, the nearby town and all the Taranaki things to do.

Great self-contained space in lovely setting. Very clean and new. Bathroom has great shower. Kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. Perfect home base while we explored New Plymouth and Egmont National Park.
