This cozy and simple 15' yurt is off the grid and nestled in a 5 acre cedar forest. The yurt is heated with a wood stove and water comes from the river. Enjoy a remote feeling while only being 15 min from the town of Nelson.

The space

The yurt is 15' diameter. It is set up very simply with a wood stove and a futon. The wood stove will likely need tending during the night if you want it to stay warm.

Guest access

The yurt is on 5 acres of land. There is access to the river, and ponds if you want to wander a little.

Interaction with guests

I will be available on your arrival, and in the near by cabin if you run into any difficulty.

Other things to note

The yurt is a five min walk from where you park, down an un-plowed drive. Bringing a headlamp is a good idea (and slippers!)

I live in a tiny house on the same property. The outhouse is shared. Water is collected from the creek. There are no cooking facilities. If you would like breakfast, I can make this for you, for an additional charge.

The area does have cell service.

Judith welcomed us in the evening and showed us the way to the yurt. It was super cozy and warm when we came in and we even got fresh water from the creek :) We really enjoyed the peacefulness and had a wonderful time! Thank you again Judith!

The Yurt is a great place to stay for a relaxing night! Judith is great and made sure the fire was going and and water collected each night I returned. The only downside is that need to get up overnight to keep the fire going

After a long drive, it was lovely to arrive at the homey, warm (Judith had the Woodstove going) yurt in the woods. I was thankful she had collected fresh water from the creek since it was already dark. There were art supplies and teas which I took advantage of, decorating letters to friends. Overall my stay was comfortable and I'm so glad I was able to find this neat spot!! A true gem!

The yurt was a really cool place to spend a night. I wish we had longer. It's close enough to Nelson that you could ski white water or visit town during the day and then stay at the yurt at night. Judith lit a fire and collected water for us before we arrived so the yurt was warm and welcoming. The yurt is quiet, at night we only heard the fire cracking and the river rushing. It would be a fine place for someone who needed some peace and quiet away from it all. Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise Judith :)

The yurt was more than we could have expected! The sound of the river, smell of the fire and the skylight really set the mood for a relaxing trip. It had that secluded feel we were looking for yet was close to everything! It was only about a 15 minute drive into downtown Nelson and 30 minutes to the Ainsworth Hot Springs. Judith was so kind and helpful. It was easy to reach her and she gladly gave us suggestions about town and the surrounding areas. Highly recommended for those who love the idea of winter camping but do not want to sacrifice comfort & warmth, and for those who want a nature getaway with proximity to the beautiful city of Nelson.

Judith was a great host who was very responsive and tried to make the experience the best for us. The yurt is in a secluded area which makes for a nice relaxing place to retire for the night. The futon is comfortable and the wood stove kept the place cozy. All around a great stay.

Secluded, private, and cozy - The Heddle Hut was everything I hoped for and more! We arrived to a wonderful warm space and even though we arrived fairly late, Judith's hospitality was fantastic. I hope to go again and spend more time in this magical place!
