On arrival, your room is waiting for you upstairs, with all linens and towels provided. The woodburner is ready to be lit to cozy up the space while you enjoy the far reaching views from the picture windows. You can choose to use our spacious kitchen to make yourself a meal, using produce fresh from our garden, or we can recommend local venues for an evening out. From our woodland garden you can wander out into the surrounding countryside to enjoy the views and natural surroundings.

The space

We are at the end of a quarter of a mile private drive that passes through parkland being grazed by sheep. Being part of the National Trust's Killerton estate, Sprydon sits amongst fields and woodlands looking out over miles of Devon countryside. Leading straight from the house are miles of walking paths through forest and fields: foxes, deer, buzzards and woodpeckers can often be seen.
This room is on the first floor with south facing windows and far reaching views and spectacular sunsets. The room has its own sink, wood burner with logs, comfortable double bed and chaise longue. Although it's a room in a shared house there is a real sense of privacy as the house is spacious and with plenty of room. The lawns and woodland garden are about one acre, with beautiful flowers in the spring, herbaceous borders all summer and beautiful autumn colours later in the year.
We also have an attic room which sleeps 2 people (see separate Airbnb entry) and this can be booked alongside this first floor room if you are a larger party.

Guest access

You have use of a shared bathroom just over the hall from your room. Breakfast is included in the price and is self serving in the kitchen downstairs. If you would like to use the kitchen to prepare your dinner we ask that you let us know in advance so we can coordinate. There is also a BBQ and outdoor seating in the garden if you'd like to cook outdoors. You have free access to all of the gardens, woodlands, orchards as well as miles and miles of walking paths and biking routes. The (large) hall has a pool table/ ping pong table & darts board which you are welcome to use.

Interaction with guests

We live in the house, but it is spacious enough to keep ourselves out of your way so you can enjoy the peace and privacy during your stay.

Other things to note

We are an organic smallholding with various cats and dogs and children around depending on when you come. If you'd like to help out in the vegetable gardening or egg collecting from the chickens we will happily welcome you! Aside from AIR BnB we host people from all over the world to come and stay with us in exchange for work/food & lodging via the organisation 'WWOOF'.
Hazel also offers pregnancy retreats & antenatal workshops as well as individual sessions of Reiki & energy medicine. Get in touch to find out more and book a session.

Stayed here with hubby and our two children (10 & 7yrs). The accommodation was lovely. Gorgeous setting. We were made to feel at home. Wish we could have spent longer here so that we could have roamed around the grounds. Great that the kids could just go off and wander the garden. They loved the animals.

Dominic, Hazel, dog, the whole family were very welcoming and friendly! The room was lovely, maybe even bigger than it looks in the photo, with great views onto fields. The house is beautiful, and situated among fields and woods where you can walk. A very enjoyable stay.

What a great stay! I only wish it had been longer! Hazel and Dominic were so welcoming and we loved staying at their beautiful home. The room was bright, spacious and comfortable, with stellar views and a lovely little wood stove that we really enjoyed using. Everything was clean and neat and we were made to feel very welcome. We particularly enjoyed taking walks around the property, the woods near their home are beautiful and Hazel was so kind to show us maps of places to go. It the morning there was home made bread, teas and coffee and cereals laid out for us. I was really happy with our stay and we would definitely stay with them again if we are ever in the area, Thanks so much!
