Everything about this stormy swing through the southern savannnah was extraordinary. Ms. Crockett, and Mr. Bishop were gracious, knowledgebale, and kind in such a genuine way I had the Hardest time pulling away.
It is a newly christened cherished 'memory of a lifetime' that when I did make a dash to the airport, the smiling congenial voice of Ms. Crockett came wafting down the porch steps of the yellow mansion on Hayne, inviting me to return. Indeed, I would love to.
Having been stranded by storms on the way in, with a phone that decided after five years to go kaput when I most needed it, I couldn't even contact them to let them know I'd be in the next morning. I bought a new phone, though was not able to access the internet or retrieve the 504 number.
But I was dealing with professionals. Bending their own guidelines they found a way to open the doors at 8am instead of the usual check-in at 3pm, and I got the whole tour. The amenities are plentiful, with fresh linens, sanitary sprays and wipes, fresh coffee, clean showers (love those foot pads!),water, and snacks.
The living room area has it all as well, with a presidential sized TV with access to regular sports & news as well as netflix. Comfy couches with reading materials and all sorts of vibrant art arrangements on the walls and entryway. Look for something special and you will find it.
Breakfast was offered and served on the upper floor (3 total if you include the downstairs patio and seating area) with a dreamy view over Lake Pontchartrain and the sleepy but bright green lawns of Hayne Blvd. Mr. Bishop saved me many hours by giving me the rundown on the bus system and making sure I had access to a dependable and honest transportation service. While I have been slow to join the AppWorld, he also made sure I knew Uber was available.
(URL HIDDEN)For me, New Orleans East was a great way to retreat from the non-stop party of Downtown, coming home to a community which seemed to be the soul of the working city. I got to talk with folks who know the pros & cons of NOLA and have found a way to make it work. Plenty of privacy and literally 15 minutes from the Quarter and Riverfront by vehicle.
(URL HIDDEN)Much Obliged, honored really, to you both!
