About this listing
In the heart of the village of Shelburne Falls, one block from the center, walkable to everything, set back from the street, private, and surrounded by trees. This private guest space is near eateries, art galleries, boutiques, and 10 minutes to 91.
The studio apartment is located above the shop, out behind our house and gallery. The space was recently built by Jim and now has wifi, t.v., a reading chair, a desk, a table to eat at, coffee maker, a bathroom with a small shower, a gentleman's hutch, a couch, a pull out futon and a king size bed. The lower shop is air sealed when work is being done, and we treat the upstairs as a "dust free zone". The shop is not in use when guests are here without making prior arrangements. The space is very private and great for a couple or single person passing through. We have a futon foldout perfect for kids. However, the futon is not meant for adults to sleep on as it can be uncomfortable. This place is an easy jump out of bed for a coffee or stroll through town. Being in the heart of our little village, you'll find local movies, live music, the coffee shop, numerous restaurants, a great food co-op, the artisans co-op gallery, and lots more. We are also about a block from the entrance to the Bridge of Flowers and 2 blocks from the Glacial Potholes.
The Arcansus Gallery, has temporarily changed into Cyndee hot yoga studio. You are welcome to message about whether a class will be happening while your here. In the past the gallery has been for Jim's woodworking and wildlife photography. Out behind the house, you'll find a paver courtyard, a lawn, hammock, sandbox, gardens, a chicken coop (which can get a bit noisy when they are laying their eggs but there is no loud rooster! Thank goodness!), and the shop, a.k.a. 14 9/16th.
We try to keep things very clean in general.
The apartment has a full bath, king sized pillow-top bed, futon pullout, small fridge, coffee maker, pot & utensils, a 24" t.v. w/dvd, cable, wifi, and an ipod/phone docking station w/speakers.
We are currently not offering breakfast, as we are just to busy with two little girls and life in general. We would highly recommend Mocha Maya's coffee shop, McCuskers Food Co-op, or the Foxtown Diner. Most are open quite early.
Also during the late summer months, the oak tree out back will be dropping its nuts out back and can sometimes be loud cracking against the metal roof. FYI.
We hope you'll come stay with us and enjoy our space and beautiful surroundings.

wifi, t.v. w/cable and dvd, clock, radio, air conditioner, hot shower, pillow top king size bed. Sorry, no use of the shop:)
Interaction with guests
We are often around and out back playing with the kids, gardening, feeding the new chickens (no rooster!), and going about our lives. The gallery is open only on weekends. We enjoy company and are glad to say hello.
Other things to note
We kept the space open during the 2015 winter season and will likely do so again.
*please let us know if you have a pet. We allow one pet. Contact us about more than one. Also, please be honest if your pet has any peculiarities.
Hi, We only expect that people will be respectful and nice. We hope that you will choose to treat the space as you would your own home. We empty trash, wash the sheets, and do basic cleaning. We do expect guests to keep it somewhat clean, by picking up before leaving. Also, please let us know if you need anything or if anything unusual should happen (things do happen!). The shower is a step in claw foot tub with overhead shower, not super fancy. It helps to tuck in shower curtain and be aware of water spillage. Please no cigarette smoke and not clam bakes :). No cigarette smoking and no excessive alcohol consumption please. Also, we do our best to keep the room clean but it is above a woodshop.
