Our beautiful cottage is situated atop a hill right on M-22 on the Leelanau Peninsula. 10 minutes from Downtown Traverse, and close to everything the gorgeous peninsula has to offer. Private beach across the street and views that you'll never forget.

The space

Welcome to Bayshore & Eagle, our "new" cottage that we can't wait to share with you. Built in the late 1950's, and added on and expanded as time went on to fit the needs of the families as every good cottage has been. She's our new project, and a serendipitous story of a boy and girl falling in love with a vacation rental that later became their home. Our Winter 2016 projects included cleaning, repairs, updates and paint and the collection of new and vintage furniture and amenities we love; while deeper renovations are ongoing in our offseason.

Bayshore & Eagle includes two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The first bedroom is the master suite complete with french doors, ensuite bathroom with glass-enclosed shower, and the incredibly comfortable Tuft & Needle mattress. The guest bedroom includes a queen Tuft & Needle mattress as well as a crib for your little one! The guest bathroom includes a stackable washer and dryer with a deep tub/shower too! Cozy white sheets and duvets are included in both bedrooms. The master and guest bathrooms were both completely gutted to the studs and renovated in Winter 2017!

Fully equipped kitchen includes a gas cooktop and oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, double sink, and a Kitchenaid automatic pour-over coffee maker (works just as easy as a standard drip coffee maker, just more delicious results).

Both living spaces include stunning huge window views of the bay from atop our hill. It's a constant barrage of ducks, swans, seagulls, and if you watch closely enough, our friend the bald eagle will show himself a few times a day (he lives in a tree on our property and often hunts fish right in front of the house). The mudroom you enter on the way in has radiant heated floors for drying mittens, hats, gloves, shoes you adventured in, or swim suits, and was beautifully renovated in Winter 2017. There is no air conditioning in the home unfortunately, but keeping the shades drawn through the morning hours usually helps keep the temperature moderated!

The perfectly-appointed family room includes comfy couches, a desk/workspace area, games, and a 50" Vizio 4K HDTV with an Apple TV (Netflix/Hulu).

Outdoors is a full wrap-around deck for that cup of coffee at sunrise. Two lounge chairs and two benches occupy the deck now, with more dining arrangements coming soon. Feeling adventurous? Climb the hill out back and it'll plateau shortly after to our acres of forest land. Follow the trail up the ridge behind the other homes and reach some stunning bay views of the water and Power Island across the way. Across the street is a step over the guard rail and down the stairs to our private, natural beach. Swimming, lounging, and beautiful views included for all guests. (While we aim to maintain our beach and its landscape the best that we can, it is a pretty raw space that is susceptible to tides and high water levels that can sometimes wash it out or make it not a perfect sandy beach on occasion, so nothing is ever guaranteed down there).

Jesse was a great host and the house is so beautiful! Wineries/dunes/beaches were a short drive. It's helpful to download the cherry capital cab app on your phone so you can schedule a pick up in case you don't want to drive. It was very convenient. Great house. Mama Lu's and The Omelette Shop were delicious!

Would highly recommend - the house is so thoughtfully decorated, well appointed and a quick 10-15 minute drive from downtown Traverse City. My only disappointment was that we were so busy with events associated with a wedding we didn't get to enjoy the house more!

We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this place. You can see from the listing the creativity and thoughtfulness that the owners have invested in the space. It's very clean, well organized and had everything that we needed. The host was kind, helpful and quick with all correspondence. It's minutes from town and steps from the beach. You can wake up each morning and brew yourself a delicious cup of coffee while admiring the view of the lake right from your living room window. And you can close out each night with a properly lit space (lots of lamps and dimmer switches) while spinning a record to add further depth to the ambiance. You can't quite get this experience from a hotel room and trips are just as much about how you experience things as they are what you experience. We hope to visit again in the future.

My group had such a great time at Bayshore & Eagle. The location is great and makes it super easy to get downtown to eat, Suttons Bay or to any wineries. The views in the morning might have been my favorite part. Waking up and seeing the sunrise over the bay was a pleasant surprise every morning. Communication with Jesse was always clear and he was so great about answering any questions we had about the area or the house. We will definitely be back!

This is, by far, the most comfortable up north rental we've ever stayed in. It feels like a home. Jesse was very responsive when we had questions, and the house was stocked with milk, eggs, coffee, beers, shampoo and conditioner, lots of fluffy towels, etc. The attention to detail was really noteworthy. The one disappointment was the beach out front--late in the season the water was high and it was hard to get to, but both TC and Suttons Bay are so close, it was worth the sacrifice for the comfort of the house. HIGHLY recommend this property and would gladly stay here again.

As other reviewers have noted, Jesse's house is very well decorated and clean. He is also a very good communicator and was receptive to some issues we had. We were disappointed in the state of the beach and spent some time cleaning, raking it, and rescuing furniture that had long been buried in the sand in order to make it useable again. It was also quite warm when we were there and we found the bedrooms difficult to keep cool despite keeping shades down and fans on. We also found it noisier than we expected as it is right on a highway. The traffic noise is audible from the house and it makes sitting on the deck less than relaxing.
