About this listing
We are situated in the beautiful Bay of Islands, in Kerikeri, close to Paihia and Russell. The en suite room opens on to a pretty garden, within walking distance to tracks, waterfalls, the Stone Store (oldest building in NZ) and it is near to many restaurants and wineries. The room looks out onto a little creek and a pretty garden area where you can hear the warble of the Tui and the swoosh of the Wood Pigeon flying from tree to tree. A place to unwind, but still have access to amenities.
There is a twin bed option available on request (see photo). We ran another B & B for many years, we love meeting people, have lots of local knowledge and have traveled much ourselves. This spot is very tranquil and is also very private, with its own entrance.
There is TV in the room.
The room is situated on a lower level to the main house, with french doors opening onto the garden and a view of a little creek. There is a space to sit outside and a hot tub that can be used on request.
There is a spiral staircase to the upstairs house, which makes the space unsuitable for small children.
The en-suite bathroom has been recently replaced.
Served in the dining room overlooking the garden (or on the sheltered deck, weather permitting).
Fresh fruit salad, home made bread, home made preserves, muesli (usually home made), fresh orange juice from our own oranges (seasonal), tea and coffee (proper coffee machine or filter, whichever you prefer). $15.00
All the above plus eggs however you want them cooked, bacon, mushrooms, tomato. $20.00
Breakfast basket in your room (put in the fridge the night before).
A simple continental including juice, muesli, bread/croissant and preserves. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. $10.00
(There is a table and chairs to sit at to enjoy breakfast in your room, or you could sit outside, weather permitting).
Interaction with guests
We enjoy giving local information to travelers over a cup of tea, or a glass of something cold. We can give people lifts or pick up if required. We make all our own preserves, much from the garden. This can be provided as part of the breakfast. We are happy for you to wander around the garden.
We live in a beautiful leafy road, many of the properties are old orchards, including ours (still have lots of orange trees). You can walk to the tacks and water inlet and to restaurants and the Stone Store. Although we are close to town, it is very peaceful and you feel you are in the countryside, with Kiwi nearby.
We have on site parking, safely off the road at the back of the property. You can walk to places of interest such as Wharepuke (very good restaurant) and the Parrot Place (end of our road). A car is helpful to see the wider area and get to beaches etc. Limited public transport.
Other things to note
We have a friendly dog and two cats, who may come and say hello! The price is for room only, with a small bar fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Full cooked or continental breakfast is available on request at an additional charge, served in your room or up in the main house, or on the deck. Alternatively, there are many great cafes near by.
Having been in the B and B business for 11 years, we know that if you look after your guests they look after the place! Normal common sense mutual respect seems to work well.

We are people people. We have traveled and worked in other countries and enjoy sharing travel experiences and are passionate about the beautiful area we live in.
We have run a larger accommodation business, Kauri Villas in Whangarei Heads, now sold to lovely people who are continuing what we started 11 years ago. We still want to welcome guests on a much smaller scale because we love provide a comfy tranquil place for guests to relax and enjoy this area.
