A beautiful 33' Carver motor yacht located in the Betsie Bay Marina in Elberta/Frankfort MI. Why stay near the water when you can stay on the water? Lake Michigan beach access is less than a mile. Kayak the Betsie River right up to your dock. PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST and note that is boat does not leave the dock.

The space

A walk through of the boat: Step from the dock onto the rear cockpit area with deck chairs poised to allow you to watch the bay and the other boats coming and going. A ladder to the right enables you to climb to the fly bridge for a 360 degree panoramic view of the bay and access to stunning sunrises. Enter the rear door wall and you will find the main salon with a queen convertible sofa sleeper to the left and folding chairs to the right. Down three steps is the dinette that seat four on the left and a full galley on the right. The galley has a refrigerator/freezer, three burner stove with oven, microwave, coffee maker and a dual sink with hot and cold water. The galley is stocked with a basic set of dishes, cups, pots, pans, and utensils. Coffee and tea are included. Enter the hall and to the left is a full size closet and to the right is the head with a macerating toilet, sink with hot and cold water, counter, mirror and a separate walk in shower. Shampoo and soap are included. Further down the hall is a full bed in the bow with plenty of storage. Bedding and towels are included.

Guest access

You will have the boat in port for your pleasure for your entire stay. You will also have the use of all the amenities the marina has to offer. Feel free to use the picnic grounds, fire pit, the two bath houses, Wi-Fi, or fish cleaning station. The marina has it's own mini-mart and tackle store ready to equip you with everything you need for fun days and nights. On site kayak rentals are available for trips down the Betsie River or bay excursions. We take you 6 minutes up the river and you float down for a two or four hour trip; right back to the marina. The Betsie Valley biking trail is minutes away and goes for miles. Bring your bikes or rent ours for a wonderful day exploring the area. Two taverns are in walking distance and many more are located less than 2 miles away in Frankfort. The Elberta Beach on lake Michigan is gorgeous, sandy, secluded and less than a mile away. The Frankfort beach is very popular with a nice sandy bottom, amenities and bath houses. The Frankfort lighthouse and pier head are popular places to watch the sunset or fish. You may want to hire one of our three on-site fishing charters for a half or full day on lake Michigan. A beautiful park with a large playground is 3 blocks away. We are ideally located smack dab between Traverse City and Manistee and Frankfort has many unique stores, a variety of dining, a micro-brewery, ice-cream, movie theater and more to keep you entertained.

Interaction with guests

My wife and I live above the marina mini-mart and offices and are usually on site 24/7. We can help with anything you may need, from operation of the boat systems or suggesting places to visit.

Other things to note

We have a bar restaurant right next door. This is a wonderful convenience except they can get a little noisy at night. Our marina is a fishing marina with boats starting their engines and leaving early in the morning. We have located the Boats to minimize the noise but it cannot be eliminated completely. Getting in and out of a boat can be challenging. We have more than one boat for rentals and they are very close to each other. Please consider this when deciding to rent our floating cabin. The TV is connected to an antenna but you have access to full cable tv (and HBO) in the lobby. Please call if you have any concerns or questions about the unique aspects of living on a boat. The boat is not available for cruises at this time but may possibly be chartered in the future. Please keep noise down after 9pm. We encourage fun but this is NO jobie Nooner. Please consider the motion and sound of the water when booking. It's hard to keep a high rating for a niche accommodation, as some people just don't like the boat life. A boat needs much more attention than a hotel room, constant interior and exterior cleaning, daily water fills and pump outs, never ending repair and maintenance. Please keep that in mind when rating us as a host and let everyone know your difficulties in your review. If you are expecting a yacht club this is probably not for you.

Check out by 11AM

Check in between 1pm and 6pm. Check out is 11am. Have fun and treat the other boaters with the respect that you would expect from them. Nothing goes in the marine toilet except the supplied toilet paper. Our two full service bath houses are available to you at all times. You may smoke on the boat deck or marina grounds but not in the boat cabin. Do not throw anything overboard, or in the sinks or shower pan ( It goes straight to the lake). Small amounts of food waste from washing dishes is fine. We provide lake friendly dish soap and shampoo. If you have any doubt about what you can do on a boat, just ask. Please inquire if you wish to have a event or party on the marina grounds.

Close to local public beach spot in Elberta, and a few Restaurants/Taverns for evening entertainment. Frankfort is very close, and a bike path can be used for pedestrian or vehicular accessibility. Simple living quarters, but well maintained. All that's needed for an overnight or weekend get away!

The boat was just as described and a fun alternative to your standard hotel. Colleen and Ed were kind host and very helpful. It was the perfect location for us to checkout Frankfort and also the hiking trails nearby.

This was an awesome stay, something different than your typical travel plans. I loved being close to Lake Michigan and 2 lighthouses, both were great.

This "boat hotel" is a fantastic idea. A genuine 'out of the box' idea for a date night, or a fun getaway for the kids. My folks are big boaters and I was fortunate enough to be raised out on the big lake all summer. I naturally respect boats and their limitations, and that's something that every potential guest should be ready to learn. A boat comes with its own set of rules, just like anything else. Thankfully, Ed and Colleen are WONDERFUL hosts and take their time to teach and outline everything for you so there are no surprises during your stay. The marina folk are friendly, there is plenty to do in the area, and lots of shopping and food close by! The boat was clean, supplied with everything we needed, and there is no better sleep than boat sleep! ENJOY IT! Ed and Colleen even made us a surprise breakfast of fresh caught salmon omelettes! What a treat! I am grateful to have found such a fun place with such accommodating hosts. We had a very large trailer with a motorcycle and kayaks and they moved their personal truck and trailer to make room for ours in a place they were able to keep an eye on it. I truly couldn't have been more at ease and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will be back! Forget a hotel, step outside your comfort zone, get one of the boats! They have four different ones, check them all out!
