Aloha,

Welcome to our home in Captain Cook Hawai'i! We are a five-acre coffee and macadamia nut farm up the mountain and just a few minutes east of the highway in Captain Cook. The Farm House is a quaint studio connected to our coffee shack.

The space
The accommodations are part of a larger traditional "Hawaiian coffee shack" where buildings are typically painted "Waimea Green" and some windows are screens only. This separate studio apartment is joined by a shared porch space with the rest of the house where we reside. Because of COVID-19, we request that you use the dedicated porch and door into the Farm House.

We also have 6 friendly in/outdoor cats who love attention, but sometimes play hard to get. We have two dogs (the real reason everyone likes us) and twenty-something chickens roaming around! You'll be getting a real farm experience! Maybe some chicks will hatch while you’re here!

We are selling farm-fresh, free-range organic eggs for $7 a dozen. Let us know if you want some! Mahalo!

Where you’ll be

Captain Cook, Hawaii, United States

Our farm is tucked up the volcano one mile from Highway 11 in the center of Captain Cook. At an elevation 2,200 ft. the evenings are cool for sleeping (can be surprisingly chilly at night) and the view of the ocean is beautifully seen from the front porch.

Our neighborhood is far enough away from town to feel like you're in the countryside but close enough to all your modern conveniences. The post office, a grocery store, restaurants, and a few other shops are right at the bottom of the hill and the drive to downtown Kona is only 20 minutes. Our favorite spots are next to each other: "Dakine Coffee," organic coffee and delicious, healthy breakfast/lunch and "Blackrock Pizza" for pizza!

We are three miles from Kealakekua Bay and a few small beaches stretching to Pu'uhonua O Honaunau ("Place of Refuge"). The Kona coast is filled with other beautiful sandy beaches up north. We love to give recommendations if you are interested. Just ask!

Hi! I'm a big kid who grew up in a small town. I was born in Ohio, lived in Nashville for undergrad, moved to rural Eastern Washington, lived in Berkeley, CA, and finally washed up on the shores of Hawai'i! I am an attorney at a non-profit that works on Medicaid policy in order to help strengthen our safety-net mental health providers! I have to travel a lot for the mainland. My partner and I, Rogelio, are managing the farm and the Airbnb while we settle into this new and exciting chapter. I love to read, practice yoga, and experience a local community. I'm a practitioner of Iyengar yoga studio, and I'm hoping to become an instructor soon. In the meantime, I'm always looking to experience teachers across the country!

If we are home when you visit, we will gladly give a tour of our farm to anyone interested!

We are available by phone or email when we are not home if you have any questions about the property or need directions to or from anywhere.

Because of COVID-19, we are making steps to protect ourselves and our community. It is mandatory to have a mask on hand when on the farm in case we get the chance to interact. We love having people here, and we really look forward to the days that we can all interact again without restriction!
