Here is the short version - Pros - excellent location, spacious area, great kitchen although we did not use it. Operationally, getting there, getting in, things went smoothly. Cons - personal items left all over the place. The draws in our room were filled with the hosts clothes - leaving us to spread our stuff out on the floor in the small master bedroom. (I thought this might be my not understanding AirBnB ways, but I checked with my millennial daughter who uses the service often, and she said this was unusual.) When staying someplace for 5 nights it is reasonable to expect you have draws space for your own clothing. While we enjoyed the Ithaca yogurt left behind it was rather odd to find a refrigerator with food items in it, as if the owners had just hurried out of the apartment before we got there. In addition, no AC. Okay, coming from Florida you don't really think that there are places in the world with no AC, but in fact there are. There is not much air circulating in the apartment - windows to open are limited, and once opened you get a cacophony of traffic noise. Overall, we didn't feel the value for the money at $500 per night. I would only recommend going if you clear with the hosts that you won't be moving in "on top" of their living space.

Response from Lindsay:
Wow, Marc! I wish you would have contacted me at any point during your 5 day stay with your concerns! Just about all of them could have been VERY easily addressed!! I’m so sorry to hear that you didn’t have a great time staying in our home. I find it interesting that your daughter had that perspective about drawers! The idea of Airbnb (at least, originally) is to stay in people’s homes, that are lived in, and not in hotels. We do have some personal items in the drawers, cabinets, and refrigerator as it’s our home -- but we keep everything meticulously clean, and free-up what we think is ample space in closets and drawers for guests to use. I would have GLADLY made more space for you! And for the fridge… we kindly left yogurt, granola, fruit juice, organic macaroons, coffee (including the stocked nespresso machine) for you… just about all local items, so you have some basic essentials upon arrival as well as a small taste of some fun local products. The other items in the fridge are mostly condiments, which most people find helpful to have on hand when they cook. It’s a shame to hear you didn’t take advantage of the kitchen! Although I’m hoping you were able to enjoy some of our great restaurants in town during your stay. I completely understand your comment about the A/C, especially coming from the south where it’s a necessity! It’s actually rare for any homes in Ithaca to have central A/C, or even window units, as there’s at best one or two weeks out of the year when that would even be needed — which is why we have the fans in each bedroom. I wish you would have mentioned something… I would have been more than happy to locate more fans for you for circulation!! And as for the street noise… I guess it’s a (sometimes noisy) trade off for the centrally located and convenient location. All of this said, I am seriously sorry to hear that you weren’t happy with your stay! I hope it doesn’t give you a bad taste for Ithaca and that you’ll visit the area again at some point. And in the future, if you stay in other Airbnb homes, I would highly suggest contacting your host during your stay with any concerns!

The location was great, close to the University, college town and the commons. Directions were spot on. Parking was easy. Rooms were comfortable. Note that there is a TV, but no cable or satellite, so if that is important to you bring Apple TV or chrome stick to hook up to the TV. WIFI is provided and signal is good throughout the unit. Overall a very vice stay

Lindsay's home is just as beautiful as it looks: open, sunny, and wonderfully eclectic. She made sure my family and I were comfortable during our 2 night stay. Although I never met her, I could tell she was a really sweet person! She responded quickly to any questions we had and made sure we had what we needed. The only drawback to our overall experience, and the only reason I have to give this a 4 out of 5, is that there is no microwave and we weren't made aware prior. Although seemingly menial, the lack of a microwave could be dire to a guest with health reasons (who may need to heat medication up that can't be put in a pot) or just simply travelers on a long trip passing through for a night or two. All in all, we did have a lovely stay. We were big fans of the eclectic decor! And the sincere hospitality. Thanks for making our trip to Cornell (Ithaca) comfortable Lindsay!
