The space

Welcome to Luna Maya, a hidden treasure 1 block from the beach.

This intimate development consists of 36 units in 6 separate buildings nestled in a quiet area of Coco Beach. Privacy and peace & quiet are the first things that come to mind when trying to describe this beautiful development. There is a main courtyard with a pool that is maintained daily, a palapa with ample seating and lounge chairs to soak up the sun. With a great location and immaculately maintained grounds, Luna Maya makes for the ideal travel accommodations.

Sol 1 is a beautiful one bedroom unit that sleeps 4 just off the pool. The bedroom has a queen sized bed with full bathroom and plenty of closet space. The kitchen comes fully equipped and is open to the dining area and living room where you'll find a couch that doubles as a queen sized bed. Just off the living room, you'll find the good sized terrace and views of the pool and common area.

This quiet ground floor unit make it a perfect choice for the couple looking to relax or a family with a young child looking to be close to the pool.

The absolute best thing about staying at Sol 1 has to be the host Rick! From the start he was communicative, accessible, helpful, friendly and a true problem solver. We ran into a few minor hiccups that were resolved quickly. The location is spot on! a short block to the beach and 2 blocks to the start of 5th Avenue. The condo itself is basically equipped, and generally comfortable and only steps from the pool with a terrific ground level balcony with sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. It is a family-friendly property (and there were lots of families) with a well taken care of courtyard and pool. The Wifi is awesome but the TV situation was a bit of a disappointment with only access to Netflix and 2 news channels for live news streaming. If I had to change anything I would turn the queen sized bed into a king and would fit it with better quality sheets, pillows and add a few extra bathroom and kitchen towels. The kitchen was fitted adequately, and we were happy to add to the mix by contributing a few staples of spices and condiments and a couple of basic utensils.

The Luna Maya was very nice. All of the other guests were friendly. The condo was very clean. Rick even left us some cold beers and other beverages so we didn't have to go to the store right away after arrival to have something cold to drink the following morning. The only negative was the beach wasn't as close by as I had hoped. The closest beach was very narrow and crowded. The ocean also had a good bit of trash floating around. Additionally, there are several beach clubs that charged admission if you wanted to enjoy the beaches nearby. If you are into partying, this is the spot for you. I was there with my mother and 6 yr old daughter, so the thumping music all day and all night got a bit tiring. To be fair, we were there during New Year's week, but I suspect the party never ends in Playa del Carmen. That said, I would recommend staying at the Luna Maya. It's close to a quiet part of North 5th Street.

Hi Kelley, Thanks for the feedback. The week of New Years does tend to be the busiest of the year and brings out lots of "partyers". This does cause the beaches to be extra busy and unfortunately, some people aren't always respectful with their trash. Following New-Years and for the rest of the year, it is much more quiet as this condo is located in one of the more laid back areas of Playa del Carmen. I'm surprised to hear that you felt it was further from the beach than you had hoped. The condo is exactly 1 block from the beach with direct access. There are several other nice beach spots in Playa that we always recommend as well and those are about 2-3 blocks away but are completely optional. Regarding the beach being a bit narrow. Yes, unfortunately, the week of Christmas, we had a very big rain storm and the waves crashed the beach taking a lot of sand with it. This is a natural occurence and the beach sand does return after about a week following a bad storm. I'm glad to hear you would recommend Luna Maya and hope to see you again soon!

What a fantastic way to take in the beauty of the region and the wonderful culture of the people of Playa del Carmen! My wife and I spent six great days in November 2016 at Luna Maya, and really, couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The accommodations are spacious for two people, and with a sleeper sofa in the living room, I could easily see four people sharing the space as well. The place is thoughtfully decorated with nice dark wood touches and is furnished with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The unit comes with wifi, a flat screen TV with AppleTV, a stove, a refrigerator, a microwave, a safe and even a combo washer/dryer. There is also a patio with seating, a barbecue, and is only a few steps away from the pool. Whatever adventures you go on, Luna Maya will be a great base to come back to! One of Luna Maya’s most compelling selling points, at least for us, is that it’s nicely situated close to the beach and the main strip (Calle Quinta Avenida), but far enough so that you can relax away from the hustle and bustle after a long day of adventuring. The nearest beach is about two blocks away, and about three blocks in the other direction is the start of Calle Quinta with its vast array of eateries, shopping and entertainment. If you walk the entire length of Calle Quinta (though a taxi will get you there faster), you’ll have access to the ferry that goes to Cozumel, and the bus station with buses running to the various attractions outside of the city. Running parallel to Quinta, next to the water, is a long stretch of beach with amazingly clear waters and clean sand. Of course, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the hospitality shown to us by our host, Rick. Rick greeted us upon arrival and was very responsive to our questions and requests. He made sure that our stay was comfortable and gave us good practical advice about the unit and its amenities. During our stay, Rick didn’t bother us or check up on us, but promptly took care of any requests we had.

El condominio parece nuevo y esta 100% listo para ser habitado. Tiene todas las amenidades que se mencionan y mas. La ubicación es excelente ya que queda muy cerca de la playa (aproximadamente 100m) asi como de la quinta avenida (a 5 minutos caminando) pero sin embargo el rumbo es tranquilo, poco ruidoso y seguro (puedes caminar por la noche sin ningún tipo de problemas). Las áreas comunes están muy cuidadas y limpias. El vigilante es atento y servicial, si manejas un poco de español te pueden orientar sobre algunos temas del clima y ubicaciones de ciertos lugares. Rick (el administrador) es atento, profesional y muy discreto, atiende todo lo referente sobre el condominio con prontitud y disponibilidad. En conclusión, es un condominio diseñado para descansar y divertirse, administrado por un equipo profesional y con experiencia en el giro que te permite despreocuparte y enfocarte en los mas importante: TUS VACACIONES
