Jan’s cabin at Venabygdsfjellet is a great place to stay.
We spent New Years Eve with a group of friends, and cocked a fine turkey, which was no problem since the kitchen is fully equipped.
The cabin is located at the foot of one of the most spectacular mountain sceneries in Norway, Rondane. You are in the middle of cross country heaven. You can also do downhill skiing nearby.
For me, being a ski- and mountain lover, this is the best feature of the cabin. The surroundings, when you walk towards Rondane is just amazingly beautiful.
As for the cabin itself, it is clean, personal and very comfortable. I stayed in the master bed room, and slept like a baby. The air is so fresh and it’s so quiet outside.
The cabin has 4 bedrooms, a spacious living room and dining area, and a sauna and a steam shower, both are very nice after a day of skiing.
The cabin is also reasonably priced, which made it an easy choice for me and my girlfriend, even if it we should have stayed just the two of us. Divided on seven adults, it was a bargain.
If there were any downsides at all, it would be that many of the nice cosy things in the cabin, suchs as blankets, carpets and furs that might attract some dust, which made the air a bit dry. After we heated up the sauna, this was no longer a problem.
This is a great place to spend your winter holiday. But it also seems to be a great place in the summer for hiking, which I might try later.
