Great location and great rooftop terrace. The staff were super helpful, and the rooms/common spaces were all immaculately clean. The rooms are open top - so you can hear your neighbour snoring... but the earplugs provided make that problem go away. Definitely recommend if you want an evening out in NoLIta

OK, so I'm less familiar with the hostel concept and have learnt a little about it from my stay at The Bowery House. The place was friendly, clean and convenient. I liked the hotel style check in because I came and left at awkward times. I did not realise until there, however, that the private rooms were only just about private. That the bedroom walls don't go to the ceiling and that the walls a very thin board... so basically the guy snoring next door; or the guy breaking the rules and using his phone; basically are very loud in your 'room'. So, it is what it is and is very good value... but maybe not my thing... and I now know what to expect from a hostel.

I stayed here for over a week and the place suited me just fine. Staff are friendly. Noise could be an issue if you're a light sleeper though. The smell on my floor was not so great, but not particularly offensive. Great location and historic feel. There were Vietnam vets cohabiting in the cabins alongside is guests!

My stay at The Bowery House was great! I stayed in an original cabin and the space was exactly as described. Not made for a tall person but thankfully I am a short woman. The cabin areas are designated as quiet areas but since there is no roof covering on these be prepared to hear noises from the adjoining cabins. Not a big deal, and they provide ear plugs for your convenience! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, both front of house and the cleaning staff. The common area is great and the rooftop garden is a great place to go if you're feeling a bit cramped inside. Overall a great unique experience, and a hotel/hostel with a great history that remains intact.

There were no surprises when I arrived to what The Bowery House had to offer. Check-in/check-out was easy and the bed/bathroom were as expected/described in other reviews. Don't expect The Ritz, but if you are looking for a 1-2 day stay in NYC, this place should be considered. Great location too.
