Our wonderful home awaits to welcome you for your Vineyard escape. 1 block from the beach and a few blocks from town and ferries our purple house with its large front porch and patio/outdoor shower in back is where you should be rocking this summer.

The space

Our home is actually 2 smaller houses that were moved from the Campgrounds and combined into one larger house near the water in the late 1800s. It is now in the historic Copeland District and retains all the touches and charm of the original houses including wood floors through out, a front and back staircase, common spaces on the ground floor (including a full bath with a shower and washer/dryer) and bedrooms upstairs (though I did convert the fourth bedroom into a spacious second full bathroom with a lovely soaking tub) and a small second level private porch off the master bedroom with a view towards the ocean. To accommodate any of our guests for whom stairs might be an issue, the couch in the den/office opens into a queen size bed as well.

Guest access

Our house has both a large front porch as well as a private bricked back patio, offering multiple options for outdoor dining. In addition to an outdoor shower, the backyard is a great place to sip on some wine while grilling or have a more private sit in the sun.

Pennacook is a popular path to the beach which is a short block away. For your convenience if you decide to bring a car, there is a private driveway along the side of the house that can accommodate one car. In front of the house is on street parking as well. However, given our location, a car is not essential. Most people walk down the street to the beach and will often stop to chat on their way. It is a short and easy walk to town as well where you will find a complete grocery store, hardware store and liquor store as well as many local restaurants, ice cream parlors and shops. A few blocks in the other direction along the ocean will take you to the ferries and buses as well as the famous Flying Horses Carousel, a treat for "children" of all ages!

Interaction with guests

I have a wonderful caretaker on the island who is available throughout your stay to address any problems, if any, you may encounter.

Other things to note

While I have used the house over the years for my family, which has included my mother in a wheelchair, there are a few steps to access the porch and the guest would be limited to the first floor.

The house is perfect for a family with children ages 5 years and older. It is not "child-proofed" or ideal for very young, crawling children and toddlers.

To address the comment from Phill regarding ants, as with other houses from this period, the cottage is built on concrete studs over a foundation of dirt. When it is very hot, sugar ants may come up from the dirt below in search of food or water. While I have never had a problem in the 17 years I have lived in the house, I know that if food is left out or food crumbs collect on the floor, it is the natural inclination of ants to seek that out.

Thank you Debbie. Your home is lovely, and it has all the special and unique charm of Martha's Vineyard. It is a true treasure and reminiscent of all the history of Martha's Vineyard. Our stay was perfect for our family. It was true to the era home with modern conveniences. We used the living area and we enjoyed both upstairs balcony as well as the front porch area which allowed us to meet the neighbors and socialize with everyone. Debbie your home felt very cozy, and the location is extremely close to the beach and to town. Everything is in walking distance to your home: the park, beach, and the town's center. In Oak Bluff's We went to the famous Back Door Donut and ordered hot donuts late at night, which is within walking distance to your home. We went to The Tavern which is within waking distance. We walked to the best breakfast in town, Biscuits. We were so close to the beach so we could walk to both the park and beach. You can actually see the water standing from your street. The location was intimate, personal and within a five minute walk to the beach. Only once did catch an uber to the ferry and that was due to the amount of our luggage we traveled with, but we really could have walked. Your large porch area is great for entertaining and meals. We have used that area more, and moved the tables together for meals, instead of eating out so much. In terms of comfort, our family felt that the ventilation was perfect. We were not too hot or too cold and it's likely due to the fact that your home is near the beach. We also enjoyed the architecture of your home. You opened your home to us, and we sincerely appreciate you allowing us to vacation in your family's home. Our trip went off without one hitch. We had an amazing time. Thank you again for allowing us to spend time in your family home. We are also thinking of visiting for the winter break. It was perfect for all of us. All the best, Cheryl

Excellent stay at Debbie's. A short walk to the center of town, a shorter walk to the beach, friendly neighbors, and not far from the ferry. We were traveling with a 7-month old and enjoyed this spot, and our host's hospitality, very much. Thank you, Debbie!

Debbie's Place was charming, perfect for access to the beach or the Main Street. We all slept comfortably, took advantage of the porch for meals and really relaxed. Debbie is a great host and was available when we had a question.

The host was gracious and the caretaker was available us. MV is a magical place and we had a wonderful time. The house was a challenge because of heat and an ant issue. Otherwise, it is in a perfect location. My favorite part of the house was the porch. We made friends with the neighbors and chatted with people as they passed by.

My family had a wonderful time staying here. It is so close to the beach and an easy walk to Circuit Ave. The front porch is great to enjoy breakfast, afternoon snacks or just people watching. It is a charming cottage with a beautiful 2nd floor bath with claw foot tub. Debbie was very responsive and all the basics were provided.

I have the good fortune to live in several wonderful places all by the water including the Jersey Shore, Martha's Vineyard and the island of Manhattan. Professionally, I advise government entities and service providers pursuing Pay for Success financing. Personally, I love good…
