Champi was a very welcoming and accommodating host, and always quick to respond to messages. The place is a little hard to find (up a side road and up around 50 steps), but when we arrived the key was in the door and we were able to go straight in.
The room is a great size with a nice jungle view and little terrace for the delicious breakfast.
Champi is very keen to send you on excursions which is great, but can be a little challenging with the language barrier - there were some aspects of the trip that we weren't keen to do, and thought we'd arranged otherwise, but then found ourselves in a van for 2 hours to visit a tea factory in another province, which was closed when we arrived which was disappointing.
One night I had food poisoning and champi brought me water when I requested which was very helpful.
We needed to do some laundry whilst we were there and again he kindly offered to do this for us - I would however recommend waiting until you're out of Ella as the bill ended up being 3600rupees for one bag of washing!!!
Overall a good experience, but if you want to do your own thing, make it clear you have it all planned out!
