About this listing

Music - is how I can easiest describe Brixton. Music everywhere. And street culture. Right as you come out of the underground. My home 30 seconds from the tube. Electric Avenue, made famous by Eddy Grant in the 80´s, Brixton Village, Pop-up Brixton, the Academy, easy access to everywhere (Victoria Line plus 30 buses). The food the ambience speaks for itself. I have hosted in my home for more than seven years and know well how to assist and get the best experience for my guests as a local here.

Description

The space

A two-three bedroom "loft" apartment, with the large living room having three huge southern exposure windows. The lightest and brightest London will ever get! A very cozy hidden, quiet bedroom in the back with a few stairs down. A second bedroom to the right as you come in and a possible third in the main room with a large modern convertible double bed couch. Perfect if you for instance are two couples with kids and you all need some privacy from each other.
Electric Avenue is a day market, mostly fruit, clothes, spices and some meat/fish shops. Never gets loud but very cozy to wake up to (no cars, just the market stalls setting up)

Guest access

The entire apartment is for your use, except a small storage room. But if you want to use that to put in suitcases etc that is fine too.

Interaction with guests

I am available 24 hours to take your call, sms or messenger. If you see my reviews you hopefully can see that I am attentive to any of your needs, give tips on where to go eat or drink or anything at all!

The neighbourhood

Brixton kind of speaks for itself these days. The food, the music and the street life is like nowhere else. The recent daily sing-a-longs for our local hero David Bowie in front of the mural is only the latest addition to an ever more exciting part of the city.

Getting around

The apartment is literally around the corner of the Brixton tube station (best line- Victoria) with 11 minutes to Victoria station (which is great if you go/come from Gatwick for instance. 15 mins max to Oxford Circus. But also a hundred or so (it seems) buses right across the street from tube, to where you can go, well almost anywhere.

Great apartment with plenty of room for four persons. Thomas is a wonderful host, we met him on arrival, he's a great guy. Tube station, Brixton market, many bars, cafes and restaurants are all close by, so its a perfect home base for some days in London. You do sometimes smell the fish shop below, but there are air refresheners in the flat, so this didn't bother us too much.

Had a fantastic three nights in this Electric Avenue flat. Highly recommendable. The only downside is the smell from the fish shop below, but the really attentive owner is sorting that out, so soon this place will be a ten!

I can strongly recommend this place for anyone looking for an authentic, alternative London experience. The apartment is located conveniently close to the tube station, making it a 20 minute journey to central london, and there are a multitude of funky clubs, restaurants and bars within easy walking distance for those looking for an authentic (highly recommended) Brixton experience. Even though Thomas was traveling at the time of our visit, he made every effort to ensure our check-in was easy and was frequently in contact to ensure that everything was fine. Thomas was also very flexible with check in and check out times, and we got the feeling that nothing was too much trouble for him, and that he places a high priority on guest comfort and satisfaction. Highly recommended. Kim, Frank & Margi

The location of the apartment is very good and direct next to Brixton station. You have the market on your feet and loads of nice restaurants close by. The smell of fish and meat from the market below is even in the apartment but there is a fan which weakens its intensity slightly. Thomas the Host is at any time available via mobile or email even if not around. The apartment is good for three people and equipped in a modern way. Its a good price value. We enjoyed our stay.

Thomas is an excellent host and his place is fantastic. The location is right in the middle of Brixton, one of London's best and most colorful neighborhoods. Literally right around the corner from the Brixton tube station (subway) and lots of buses that can take you all over London in minutes. Lots of great restaurants, pubs and loads of shopping are all steps away. The apartment itself is a hidden treasure and the layout was great too, especially the bedroom which is located towards the rear, I loved the steps down to bedroom. I couldn't have asked for a better experience or place to stay.
