Location

Newtown Linford, United Kingdom

Newtown Linford and the surrounding villages in Charnwood are unique to Leicestershire. Many of the cottages date back to the 17th and 18th century and are listed. The River Lyn flows through the village across the fields opposite the Barn, where there are several public footpaths to enjoy. The ruins of Lady Jane Greys family house are situated in Bradgate Deer Park, with its distinctive 'Old John' monument on the highest part of the park. There are great views across Leicestershire to other Charnwood peaks e.g. Beacon Hill.

There are 3 nearby golf courses and several riding stables, the park has Red, Fallow & Roe deer, but it would be unusual not to spot local free roaming Muntjac deer across the fields and in the woods.

And of course there are many restaurants pubs and tearooms where you can take refreshments as you plan your walks or trips out around Charnwood and the surrounding area. National Trust 'Stoneywell House' is within easy walking distance as are the ruins of 'Lady Jane Grey's' ancestral home.
