The space

Beautiful large bright room and bath with mountain and treetop views. Completely private separate floor in spacious house, 15 minutes to downtown Charlottesville, VA., 15-20 minutes to spectacular foliage on Skyline Drive. 4 minutes to swimming in a fresh water lake with Blue Ridge mountain trails at every skill level, and 10 minutes to the Boar's Head Inn with luxury dining, great bar, and championship tennis facilities and home to UVA - the number one tennis team in the nation. Monticello is 15 minutes from downtown with the University of Virginia a couple of minutes away. Some of the best wineries are within 10 minutes of your home here. Helene knows them all and will share a glass in the afternoon should that be of interest along with chocolates.

Large room is delightful with wifi, large desk, closet, and double bed. Private bath, tub and shower -- all on a totally private level with lots of windows, sunlight and great views.

Breakfast is included with coffee, juice, yoghurt, and danish. Yum.

John and Helene are a retired foreign service couple and John is an active blogger, historian, and Stanford grad while Helene is a swimmer, world traveller, Penn grad, and both play doubles tennis. Their daughter, living in New York, is a physicist at IBM's Watson Lab working on chips, lasers and photonics, named a thirty under thirty innovator by Forbes. Brains skipped generations in our home. We are never at a loss for words, but also wish to respect your privacy, peace and tranquility. Mosby, our yellow lab and Mango our yellow cat are friendly, but will not bother you.

John and Helene are terrific host! I highly recommend their place the next time you are in Crozet, Virginia. The house was everything we expected and we enjoyed their company. Their house is beautiful and is located in the woods for beautiful forested views. Wish my wife and I could have stayed longer to enjoy the porch that overlooks the woods and is very peaceful. Look forward to another visit.

She and her husband are very nice people. Their home is beautiful and scenic. They did their best to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. The house however is tucked away in the woods and rather far from Charlottesville. There is no television to watch in neither the bedroom or living area so consider that when booking.

Response from Helene:
We are sorry Ms. Collins somehow did not realize that Crozet, Virginia, was not downtown Charlottesville. Presumably because of the specifics in our listing, none of our other 60 or so guests over the past year and a half were surprised or disappointed to find that our accommodation “in the treetops … with mountain and treetop views” was both “15 minutes to downtown Charlottesville” to the east and “15 to 20 minutes to the Skyline Drive” to the west. Those other guests no doubt also realized that since our home is "4 minutes to swimming in a fresh water lake with Blue Ridge mountain trails at every skill level” and since “some of the best wineries are within 10 minutes of your home here,” that 2050 Avalon Way, Crozet, is located in a quiet, rural area — with close proximity to Charlottesville and the University of Virginia, but with a very different feel from the close by city. Although the county roads through Crozet, past Mint Springs Park, and up to our driveway are uniformly in better shape than the roads in Westchester County, New York, where our daughter lives, it is true that they are not lit by street lights at night. Our home, however, was well lit — from front porch, to entrance hall, to steps leading upstairs to our guests’ private room. Regarding that separate floor suite and our dining/living room downstairs to which guests have access, it is true that there is no TV. Again, our other guests have not been surprised about that, since that information is also clearly listed.

This was our first time using Air B&B. We were very happy with it. Helene and her husband were very gracious. Anyone looking to stay in Crozet should stay here! It is a beautiful setting in the woods with amazing views. Put that all together with a fun loving dog, a cup of good coffee, and great hosts you will have a perfect stay.

John went to Stanford in history and blogs. I swim miles and went to Penn. we are a happy retired foreign service couple and enjoy CA. Helene has been traveling worldwide for work and pleasure. We were both in Japan on assignment and travelled around the country and the region. Helene is an election official at the polls. Our daughter introduced us to airbnb and is encouraging our latest excursion to CA.
