Our country house is situated beside our stable yard 2km outside the town of Blessington, gateway to the Wicklow Mountains.

We are dog friendly with a large enclosed garden for your dog to run.

The house has a good Wifi connection and has satellite T.V. in the main sitting room only.

Horse back riding is available for children and guests from our stables beside the house.

The space

Our cosy farmhouse has four bedrooms, with open plan kitchen and dining area. There is an open fireplace in the sitting room, ideal to heat your after a walk in the nearby hills!

Free to our guests, we have developed a number of audio tours that you can take around Wicklow, these have different themes for example our "secret stones" tour will bring you to eight ancient sites, including Irelands largest bronze age hill fort which is over 2,500 years old. We have recorded audio guides to download to your smart phone. Then we'll give you a list GPS locations which when used with your cars sat nav will get you to some remote and unique locations, including a walk to a 5,000 year old tomb, just 20 minute drive from our house!

Interaction with guests

We live about 300 meters from the house and Louise works daily with her horses in the stable yard. We're always happy to help!

Other things to note

The house is located beside our stable yard and there can be a small amount of car and horse traffic passing in front of the house during daytime.

lovely accomodation next to a working farm - quiet on the night and the no noise from the farm - the odd passing horse - lovely view first thing out to the field with the birds and rabbits

We had a fantastic stay at Ronans house in Blessington. The location was perfect for a week spent exploring the Wicklow hills and Dublin. The house is exactly as shown in the pictures just outside the town of Blessington (about 25 mins walk) which has everything we needed (food, Guinness etc.). We got the bus into Dublin one day which went from just up the road directly into the city and was such an easy way to explore the city. I would definitely recommend Ronans house for a trip to Wicklow.

We had a lovely stay - great surroundings and a warm welcome. Within walking distance of The local town. Plenty of room, bedding and towels provided as well as cleaning products and laundry powder and dishwasher tablets. Wifi and TV with lots of channels and a dvd player. Lovely patio area and plenty of parking. Would recommend it.

Stayed here recently with our family and it was ideal for what we needed. The space was brilliant for us having as we had a toddler and the enclosed garden was so safe, perfectly fenced in for him to enjoy kicking his football around. This place will suit all groups young and older as only one bedroom is upstairs and the remainder on the ground floor. Great space in all rooms with lovely fresh bed linen and plush towels. We would recommend to friends and hope to stay again. Met both Ronan and Louise who are so friendly and accommodating- all in all a thumbs up from me :)

Ronan and his family were excellent hosts. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home and welcome. There was a wealth of information available to us about the surrounding area to include Dublin. Ronan has taken this a step further and organized guided treks for you to take as well as providing CD's of the history and other pertinent facts to listen to while you drive to your destination. The house and grounds were lovely and more than adequate for the four of us who stayed here. The area is just beautiful. Ronan was very willing to help out with suggestions of places to see as well as nearby dining options. We all had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend staying here and would stay again in a heartbeat!! We even got to see a bit of horse jumping in the evening, we just loved everything!!

I'm married to Louise and we have a little girl, but the big girl in our house is our 80kg /13 stone/176lb Irish Wolfhound "Piglet" and we've heard all the jokes about putting a saddle on her! I work full time in my own food business, while Louise looks after our daughter and the horses. Most of the riding we offer is one-to-one normally when I get back from work in the long summer evenings. Louise is a qualified riding instructor and gives all the lessons, while I take out the more experienced riders on a trek to the hill behind us - the photo shown is the real view - no photoshop used!!
