About this listing
The perfect place for a couple or a weekend with friends.
**Must be 25 or older to book***
My fully-furnished 3-BR cabin is located only 90 miles from Manhattan in the Pocono lake region. The house is situated in the woods, at the edge of a private lake community with access to docks, beach, and fishing (with PA permit of course). It's only a 15 min drive from Lake Wallenpaupack, and around the area you can find skiing, hiking, tubing, waterfalls, state forests, antique stores, farm stands, local markets, and Woodloch resort and spa.
The cabin rests on a one-acre lot on the edge of the Paupacken lake community, looking out over dense woods (there are other cottages within view of mine, but the neighbors keep to themselves and in the summer the leaves are so full you almost don't see them at all). It's packed full of soaring trees, boulders, and streams--and also cardinals, turkeys, foxes, and lots of deer who often laze around in the yard : ) A fire pit and a wraparound deck with outdoor seating and grill complete the outdoor experience.
Inside, the fire place fills the cabin with coziness and warmth. Features and amenities include ceiling fans, electric baseboard heaters in every room, Internet/Wi-Fi, record player with record collection, board games, ping-pong table, fully stocked kitchen, linens and towels, pre-packed beach bag, beach towels, lawn chairs, comfortable beds, and modern furniture.
The space is well-suited for a couple, a small family, or a few friends. The master loft has a queen-size bed and the 2 main floor bedrooms have 4 sets of sturdy, comfortable twin bunk beds.
Guests will access the cabin through a set of keys contained in a key box hanging from the basement door, retrievable by a numerical code. Arrival and departure times are very flexible, provided no other guests are scheduled immediately after your visit. ONLY IF there is a guest immediately before or after you, arrival is usually after 4pm, and departure is usually before 12pm
Interaction with guests
I do not live at the cabin, but I am readily accessible via email and phone.
If you can pull yourself away from the comforts of the cabin, you'll have lots to do both in the Paupacken community and in the surrounding area. Inside the community, you're just a 15-minute walk from the closest dock where you can take out our 17ft Coleman canoe to fish and paddle around the beautiful 230 acre lake. This glacial lake is one of the cleanest ones you'll find in Northeast Pennsylvania. (This is due in part to the fact that power boats are not allowed on the lake) The lake is stocked with sunfish, perch, and walleye – it's a regular fisherman's delight. In summertime, head down to the beach to lay out or jump off the floating dock or to the large pavilion to grill up some lunch while playing lawn games, or just explore the woods and creeks right across the road from the house. There are also 2 bikes available for use around the lake.
Outside of the community, you're just a short drive away from excellent hiking, quaint strips of shops and restaurants (including the beautiful Settlers Inn with full lunch and dinner menu and live music while you eat, and the glass bar at ledges where you can have drinks and tapas over looking a waterfall in the warmer months), tubing, horseback riding, petting farms, golf courses, farmers' markets and home-baked goods, antique stores, flea markets, snow tubing, skiing, and a family fun park.
You really need a car to get around. Unless you opt to take a taxi from the Hawley bus station, short line bus from Port Authority for about $30 one-way.

I'm originally from Kansas but I've been living in Brooklyn since 2008. I live in a very cute little sleep away camp like loft in in bushwick and although it's my favorite place in the world right now I'm constantly on the road for work or visiting friends.
