Apartment was clean, very well equipped, full of quirky items and provided a perfect base to explore Cairns and the surrounding area. Although you can drive into the centre of Cairns in around 15-20mins when the traffic is good, its worth allowing yourself slightly more time than this in the morning (especially if booked on a Barrier Reef trip leaving from the marina). The Reef itself was stunning, and an absolute must if visiting Cairns for the first time. The beach over the road from the apartment was great for an evening walk and usually quiet (a lifeguarded area with stinger net is situated around 5mins walk to the north for those looking to swim). Overall we really enjoyed our brief stay, and would highly recommend this apartment for those looking to stay somewhere a little different or somewhere a little quieter than the middle of Cairns.

There was a welcome pack with fresh fruit and tea coffee sugar from local produce. Welcome pack very informative with hosts phone nos and available any time day or night Did not make contact with hosts as did not consider we had any major issues. Kind enough to text a message from relatives as my phone credit nearly expired . I was communicating via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) using free wifi. The children loved the games provided , played dominoes , battleships everyday and made use of the free private pool. Potential guests need to be aware that there is a minimal risk of crocodiles on the local beaches .This is a current issue in northern beaches of Cairns with the odd crocodile possibly making its way between the estuaries by swimming in the sea .There was a warning sign although there were life guards patrolling the beach in a designated spot nearby for safe swimming, However Yorkey's Knob is probably safer than most. My children 10. 11 and 16 did use the beach after speaking with some locals walking dogs who had never seen a crocodile there in 20 or more years! The beach itself was sandy with gentle waves and my children did not go out that far as they used body boards. I believe the risk applies to evenings and after heavy rain. I would not recommend this place or any beaches nearby for families with young children because of this risk. I knew they were perfectly safe in Tegan and Nicholas pool which was ideal under shade and easily supervised from the balcony. Listing best suited to 4 people with 2 older children because of over all living space . We had an adult sized teenager which made it a bit cramped.Camp bed and lounge area not really adequate for his needs. The facilities are quite dated which is reflected in the price . Yorkey's Knob is about 20 minutes from the airport easily served by cheap return shuttle bus and about 20 minutes drive into Cairns. It could work well for a number of people depending on their itinerary. Its a quiet non commercial residential area and sufficient to explore the main attractions of Cairns with the Kuranda Skyrail fairly close by.

Made to feel very welcome by the hosts. Great location away right by the beach, away from the hustle of Cairns city. Very quiet and peaceful, and yet easy to get around providing you have a car. Would certainly go to this property again.
