Interaction with guests

We are usually around, and are happy to help with anything you need, be it a local food recommendation, directions or sewing a button back on your sweater! We have our own wing in the back of the house, and there is a buzzer if you need to find us.

You never know when "wine time" will happen in our Keeping Room, or out on the porch when the weather is nice.

The neighbourhood

We are just across from the historic Chocorua Dam, and a new park that was established there in 2014. The dam, on the Chocorua River, has graced the cover of almost every [hone book in the country at one time or another.

Tamworth, which Chocorua Village is a part of, is 2 miles away, and the home of The Barnstormers, the oldest continually operating summer stock theater in America. The Tamworth distillery recently opened across the street, offering a variety of spirits for sampling and purchase. Up the street, the Lyceum and Other Store offer food, drink and occasional live entertainment. Down the road in Ossipee is the recently opened Sap House Meadery, offering a variety of meads, ciders and food. Ossipee is also home to some great BBQ at The Yankee Smokehouse, 4 miles away.

The shopping mecca of Conway / North Conway is only 11 miles up the road, where you can find pretty much every outlet you can think of. A variety of restaurants, fine dining, bistro, casual fare, sports bars etc, can also be found there.

Winter sports include skiing at nearby King Pine, or a little further up the road at Mt Cranmore. Cross country skiing, snowmobiling ice climbing and snowshoeing are also available nearby.

Summer offers hiking, white water rafting, kayaking, boating, mountain biking and more are all close by. Mt Chocorua is one of the most scenic climbs in the White Mountains, as much of it is above treeline. Golf is 6 miles away at the beautifully maintained Indian Mound Golf Club, or in North Conway at the North Conway Country Club.

Getting around

Plenty of parking here, we're not that close to any public transportation, though bus service is available into North Conway, and we can pick you up there. We're in the country!

Other things to note

Our meals are prepared using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Eggs, and bacon come from a nearby farm, the sausage is house made, and the maple syrup is from trees right on our property. In the fall, apples from our orchard are pressed in our cider house.

Prix fixe dinners, three or four courses, are available with advance notice. Kimball and Neysa owned and operated the Eagle Mountain House in the early 80's, known for it's outstanding cuisine. Kimball also ran a cooking school in a gourmet shop for 2 years, teaching classes and assisting chefs with theirs.

In the summer of 2016, we will launch a concert series in our recently restored barn, focusing on singer/songwriters, jazz and other acoustic oriented offerings. Kimball has been in the music business for the past 26 years, managed a number of artists from New Orleans, and we expect to see a lot of talent from The Big Easy coming through as well.

We are musically oriented here. Guests are welcome to use the piano in the living room, as well as to bring their own instruments for impromptu jam sessions.

Wow. What a fantastic stay. Kimball and Neysa were one of the most accommodating and friendly hosts I had encountered on my travels. From the fantastic breakfast, to the comfortable bed, to the lovely views around the property to the great conversations we've had - everything was just top notch. Would definitely stay here again on my next visit to the area.

Really a great place to be. Kimball and Neysa are the perfect hosts, you always wish to have. Very cozy old house from the 19th century. Homemade food, nice porch and barn. Seasonal own fresh vegetables and housemade cider. 5-star-recommendation!

The best breakfast in New Hampshire is only one of the attractions of this fine b&b in an excellent location close to the historic village of Tamworth, glorious National Park lakes, forests, mountains and lakes - and also within easy sybaritic striking distance of the North Conway shopping malls. Just about all the organic food is sourced locally (bacon from the next door farm, for example), vegetables, fruit, salad and edible flowers from their own kitchen garden that also supplies the barn sales. Kimball is a super cook - his buttermilk pancakes are memorable and can also be sampled at their weekend pancake brunches. Syrup and cider come from their own trees. We also had an excellent home-cooked dinner one night. My room was delightful with a large antique bed (high enough to require antique steps!) and subtle chintzy furnishings in keeping with the period and style of the house. Public rooms are cosy and comfortable and filled with games and books and easy chairs or go for the rocking chairs on the porch. There is an honesty bar plus all-day tea, coffee and homemade cookies. If there is a drawback it is that the four bedrooms have to share two bathrooms, one of which is on the ground floor, but it never actually became a problem during my four-night stay and was a small price to pay for all the many plus points and overall terrific value for money. And above all, there is the lovely welcome and hospitality and good cheer and chat that makes you feel as if you are staying with old friends. The owners could not do enough to help me make the best of my stay, were full of local advice and thoughtful consideration. I can't wait to go back!

The hosts made me feel completely at home. The welcome, the treats, the best breakfasts I've had in my life, the friendly and relaxed conversations. Could not have been better. Definitely my best AirBnb experience ever.

This was one of the best Airbnb experiences I've ever had (and I've stayed in a lot of Airbnbs)! Kimball and Neysa are hosts par excellence, and welcomed me to their cosy bed and breakfast on extremely last minute notice. The house has been lovingly decorated down to the smallest detail, and the rooms are comfortable, charming, very clean, and offering every amenity. They also provide extra guest hospitality touches like cold drinks and homemade cookies upon arrival, and an amazing breakfast spread in the morning. Truly, the pancakes are off the charts!! Their property is incredibly green and gorgeous, with lots of gardens and ancient trees, and a barn that will soon become a live music venue! When I arrived, I knew that I would regret having such a short stay. If you are thinking of doing hiking around Mt. Washington (as I had), this place is easily accessible to the park, yet so much nicer and more budget friendly than some of the larger resorts near North Conway. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and I hope that I get the opportunity again soon. Thanks so much, Kimball and Neysa--you truly put the B & B in Airbnb!
