Lovely building! Lots of opportunities to explore & relax. Breakfast was very nice & healthy. The staff are friendly & helpful. The rooms could be nicer. But they are spacious with high ceilings. And very close to so much.

We had a wonderful stay at Katarma. It is tricky to find a good and affordable place to stay on San Cristobal and Katarma is the place to be. Jenny's father lives in the property and is a great, warm and caring host. Eventhough he would say that he doesn't speak english it was always easy to communicate with him. All the art work he has added to the hotel are unique and very impressive. Even more once you know that this is only one of his hobbies. We were a little stuck on the island after we finished our scuba diving cruise and were more than happy to find Tessa, a lovely irish girl helping out as a volunteer at the Katarma hotel. She knew her way around the island and kindly showed as around and joined us for some trips. The center of the complex is a communal kitchen/livingroom/art gallery/swimming pool and was very inviting to get in touch with other guest. In the end we felt like one big family at home rather than in a hotel. Thank you all for making our stay such a pleasurable one.

My girlfriend and I were fortunate enough to find Hotel Katarma and were very happy with our choice. It is a beautiful hotel uniquely decorated by a gifted artist (David the owner). The hotel is centrally located and easily walkable from the main dock at the center of San Cristobal. The pool, central kitchen where breakfast is served and all other amenities are great and work without issue. Everyone working at the hotel couldn't have been nicer and David was even kind enough to show my girlfriend his art gallery. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the rooftop terraces provide a great place to get an overview of the city or to star gaze at night. Highly recommend Katarma to anyone looking for a great hotel with an artistic flare and a wonderful staff.

Our family of 6 stayed at Katarma for a week at the end of our time in the Galápagos, and had a lovely time. Communication with Jenny before our stay was clear and speedy which was nice. From the dock, we had no problem getting to the hotel. We were greeted warmly by David and his son Andres, and shown to our room. The room was spacious and very clean. As shown in the photos, there is a main room with small fridge, counter, sink, dining table and chairs, and 2 larger seats. Beyond that there is a large bedroom with one single and one double bed. This room has a fan which was wonderful! There is plenty of storage space for those looking to unpack, and the washroom is large with great water pressure. For those looking to self-cater, the kitchenette is empty, and there is no cooking appliance. For us this was no problem as we only used the fridge and counter for making sandwiches, or keeping drinks. The hotel is safe, and cozy, and has a lovely pool, and steam room for use. There are also large and lovely common areas to relax in. The kids enjoyed cooling off in the pool each afternoon after exploring, and playing cards or chess in the lounge. Breakfast is buffet style with a variety of choices. Juice, tea, coffee, milk, yogurt, granola, eggs cooked to your preference, fruit, bread with cheese or is all fresh and very filling. The same woman that does breakfast also cleaned and straitened up the room each day. Luis also came each day to clean the pool and grounds and help if there were any issues that needs care. David and Andres were available if we needed anything, and Andres shared great information about where we might spot blu-footed boobies (which we did!). They are both easy going, and creative. The art throughout the hotel (paintings and mosaics) were done by them, as were the various statue mosaics at the airport entrance and the fountain in town. The kids especially loved the orca whale outside which they gave hugs to each time we left or returned. The walk to one end of the main street, and a beach full of sea lions is a 5 minutes from Katarma, and the pier not 5 minutes more from there. The airport is 5-10 minutes walk as well (depending on your pace and luggage load). Taxis are $1 anywhere in town if you choose to take them. Our experience at Katarma was wonderful, and a great way to end our time in the islands, and our long trip through South America. We would recommend Katarma to anyone looking for a place to stay in San Cristobal.
