Our home is a lovely, open, large cabin where you will have a private room, a large full bath, parking, and access to most of the first floor of the house--including a deck and lounge area! New in 2017, guests are welcome to use our new hot tub! Our convenient location is ~30 minutes to Nederland, Golden/West Denver, Boulder, etc. Tons of trailheads, climbing spots, and near to the Eldora Ski Area. Visit all the best spots in CO using our home as your hub!
Whether you're looking for a nice respite for the weekend or an amazing work-from-home site, our house is sure to please. Your private room includes a spacious closet, comfy bed, and a large dresser. The large, full bath is located just beside your room, and includes a large mirror, toilet, sink, cabinets, and shower/tub. Occasionally, this bathroom is shared with guests staying in our other listing.
If your party is bigger than 2 people, we have a day bed available in the lounge area for a 3rd person or another couple. Also, if you're new to AirBnB, use our code for $20 off your first booking: www.airbnb.com/c/erandall?s=8
Please note, the common spaces are just that: common. Please do not expect privacy here. You are booking a private room and bathroom with shared access to lounge spaces and a kitchen. We have our own living space and so typically aren't lounging around upstairs, but we, along with our guests, come in and out of the front door and use the kitchen daily. If you need those space to be private, please consider booking a private entire home somewhere else rather than our private room listing. The hot tub is also considered a shared amenity/common space.
CHECK-IN/OUT NOTES: Check-in is usually after 6:30pm, but we do our best to be flexible with the time (if you need to come in before then) as long as we know 24 hours in advance. We often arrange self-check-ins too, in case you need to check-in late or when we are unavailable. Should your ETA/plans change, you are responsible for letting us know. If you do not, we cannot guarantee we will be able to check you in or set up a self-check-in. Check-out is at 10am.
**Please be mindful of the driveway, porch, and stairs when walking down from the parking area due to rain, snow, and ice slipping hazards**
Besides the kitchen, the majority of the first floor of the house will be your domain (though please see our note regarding common/shared spaces in the "The Space" section). This includes a large lounge area and dining room area, which doubles as a nice work space, and deck--a wonderful place to sip your coffee in the morning! The first floor is covered with windows and has a 20ft ceiling. Almost everyday you can look outside and see deer, bunnies, foxes, and/or bobcats as you peacefully read a book or enjoy a glass of wine! This is such a wonderful place and space to relax, and we are excited to share it. We have a separate living space and our bedroom on the bottom floor, but if you need us, feel free to text, email or call. We have a set of kettle bells and dip bars if you're looking to stay/get in shape while you stay! The mountain hills provide a nice challenge for a walk/run also. Please respect our space by not going into any areas not stated or shown on the listing page.
GUESTS ARE ASKED NOT TO ENTER THE STAIRWELL or DOWNSTAIRS LEVEL. These are our private spaces and are not included as part of your Airbnb rental; please respect our privacy. The hot tub can be accessed from the outside.
Interaction with guests
We are happy to help with whatever you need. If you're looking for privacy, we will gladly respect that. We are almost always available by phone call, text, email, or in person if you'd like to chat!
Other things to note
Parking on the premises is provided, but please be advised that during the winter months you will want a vehicle with snow tires and/or 4WD to reach us. There are some steep and curvy parts to the roads leading to our house, but our Prius, when equipped with snow tires, handles it just fine. We have a loaner set of tire chains for bad weather that we can lend to guests.
**Please be mindful of the porch and stairs when walking down from the drive way and parking area due to snow and ice slipping hazards; we are not responsible for and cannot be held responsible for accidents or injuries which occur on our property.**
Our FAQ and Rules:
-Please READ THE LISTING in its entirety. We worked hard to make it accurate and informative so that guests know 100% what to expect. If your party arrives and someone is, for instance, allergic to pets, our cancellation policy will still apply.
-NO SMOKING (of any kind) INSIDE please. When smoking outdoors, due to high fire risk, you MUST bring an ashtray with you and/or a glass of water to extinguish in. 420 is ok, but again, don't smoke it inside. No exceptions!
- Well-behaved pets are welcome, but there is an additional cleaning fee of $25 per reservation. Pets cannot be left in the unit unattended at any time unless prior arrangements have been made with the hosts. Pet owners are responsible for any damage of property by pets.
-DO NOT LEAVE FOOD IN YOUR CAR! Bears and other large, cheeto-loving animals live in the canyon. They have been known to take doors off of cars to get at delicious people food. You are welcome to store your food in the fridge or in the pantry (just left of fridge).
-COMMUNICATION is very, very, very important to us. Please respect our time and be courteous by arriving when you say you will--not an hour early, not at midnight, etc. If your plans change, we will do our best to accommodate you, but we need to be informed.
-People not on the reservation are not permitted unless permission is given by Matt or I, for safety reasons.
-The HOT TUB is a shared amenity, and so, please do not expect to have sole/private access to this. Guest access to the hot tub is from outside only. Do not use our private living space to access the hot tub. Access is available until 10pm on weeknights (M-Th) and 11pm weekends (F-Su).
-The stairwell and lower level are HOST PRIVATE LIVING AREAS. Please respect our privacy by not entering these areas as they are not a part of your Airbnb rental.
-There are a set of stairs leading down from the driveway to the front door. Unfortunately, this makes us not handicapped-accessible. Please use caution when walking down the stairs and driveway as weather conditions may make these areas slick.
-RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATER is about 40 minutes away from our house, and Uber/Lyft/Taxis sometimes will not drive to our house.
-It should go without saying, but if you're looking to experience the city, we are probably not a good fit because we are 30 minutes from any city. If you are looking to hike around and visit multiple spots, we are a great fit. Please do not book us and then get upset that we are not in downtown Denver. Check the map!
My hubby and I are adventure-loving scientists who love home brewing, gardening, hiking, and traveling. At 22 I had set foot on every continent, and most importantly, much of that travel was with the love of my life, Matt. Combined, we have been to nearly 30 countries, and nearly every state in the US. Matt is a Army combat Veteran who is now a Geophysicist. Last year we moved to beautiful Golden, CO so that I could pursue my doctorate at CO School of Mines. We are loving it out here and are so happy we can finally share our home (and brewery recommendations) with fellow AirBnB-ers!
We equally love a good night out or event as much as staying in and playing cards, reading, or watching a movie. Whatever you're into, there is something for everyone near where we live! There's always something fun to do or great food/beer/wine to partake in. Whether you're looking to unwind, sleep in, and watch some wildlife or ski/hike/otherwise adventure, we would love to host you and your loved ones :) We thank the many other hosts around the world with whom we've stayed over the past 6 years for showing us the ropes of exceptional hospitality!
