This was a very cozy & relaxing place- beautiful forest all around & lots of trails in the neighborhood. Also a nice clubhouse & gameroom for kids. It was the perfect size for us, and we loved the fireplace in the evenings to come back & relax at. Also nice to have a grill & deck to see the woods. Close to Boone, Blowing Rock, and skiing tubing places.

We had a great weekend at the cabin, thanks, Al! The fall leaves were beautiful and the back deck was perfect for dining al fresca. There's considerable tree coverage, but we could still do some stargazing and mountain viewing. For a gated community, we felt nicely secluded from the other properties and enjoyed the amenities available--trails, lodge, and paddle boating! Excellent value and a good place to unwind.

We had no problem finding the cabin or getting into the gated community even though we arrived around 9:30pm. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and we felt right at home . Tea kettle & mugs , we had our hot chocolate outside on the back deck. We packed our basics and Al's cabin had all the rest made it so much easier too. We would defiantly come back again soon to enjoy the fall colors before winter sets in. Thank you Al for a wonderful time your cabin was perfect! Doreen and Tom Killoran.

Al allowed an early check-in which was much appreciated on a somewhat last-minute notice. Due to unforseen circumstances (terrible sleep due to kids up all night) we weren't able to arrive nearly as early as we were hoping but were able to access the cabin prior to the normal check in time, which was a bonus. Something about the cabin reminded me of my grandma's house. The smell of the cabin, the texture of the carpet, the kooky bird plant in the living area which my daughter was obsessed with... we utilized every nook and cranny of the small cabin for our family of four and it certainly met our needs. The neighborhood was absolutely beautiful and the pool was our favorite treat where we made some lovely family memories. It was a great drive to Tweetsie Railroad for us, although being so far away from a grocery store certainly has its disadvantages. When you're dealing with two small hungry children, you must come prepared. The front room was much smaller although incredibly cool due to the AC unit. The larger bedroom towards the back of the cabin seemed to have a more comfortable bed (although both are incredibly firm). My nearly four year old slept the whole night through both nights we stayed there which was a miracle in itself, so I can't complain too much about the firm beds! The larger bedroom also does not have an AC unit so it is much, much warmer than the front bedroom which is why she got the best (but warm!) room to herself. I must be cool to sleep! Especially next to a heat seeking baby! Overall the cabin met our needs, was priced well and allowed us to bring our best buddy - our 5 year old floofy pup. Powder horn is a stunning neighborhood with crazy drops off the edge of mountains as you swirl and wind around. This is a place to make memories! I wanted the mountain experience, and Al gave it to me! Ps: don't expect a single bar of wifi. It's odd to feel so disconnected! The clubhouse was great for wifi to do a quick review of needed directions or work check ins/emails.

Al gave awesome directions and told us everything that we needed to prepare for our visit. The neighborhood was very quiet and had beautiful scenery and we actually saw deer and wild turkeys. This was a perfect place to have a peaceful restful weekend. The only negative comment I have is that if there is more than one couple staying, there is very limited seating space in the living room...The only seating available was one loveseat. Thanks Al for sharing your home with us!
