Situated in the lovely village of East Linton it's perfectly placed for exploring this beautiful area of coastal Scotland. The 2-bed cottage is 5 minutes walk to the village centre and has stunning views from the back garden over Drylaw Hill.

The space

The cottage has recently been refurbished and is beautifully furnished in keeping with its quaint nature. There is a private garden to the back and front of the property; patio furniture and a barbeque allow you to dine outside during the warmer weather.

The living room has plenty of seating with one 3-seater sofa, one large armchair, one smaller chair and a large pouffe for sitting or putting your feet up. The ingenious dining table unfolds to seat up to 6 people comfortably. There's a wood burning to keep you cosy on cooler evenings. Entertainment wise, there is a flat screen TV and DVD player, Free Wi-Fi is also provided.

Overlooking the garden is the fully equipped kitchen which has a full size electric fan oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge freezer and washer dryer. A wide range of utensils, crockery and glasses are provided.

The light, well designed bathroom has a full size bath and electric shower with a heated towel rail and plenty shelving for toiletries.

The master bedroom has a comfortable King size bed with a memory foam mattress, a small sofa, built in wardrobe, chest of drawers and 2 bedside tables. The room is beautifully decorated and has a calming feel to it.

The second bedroom is furnished with 2 comfortable single beds, chest of drawers, built in wardrobe and bedside table. The room has been thoughtfully decorated and looks out onto the back garden.

A travel cot is available for babies.

Outside the cottage, to the front there is a pretty garden and a driveway (with gates). To the back is a secure garden overlooking the fields and Drylaw Hill, perfect for kids and dogs. There is a lovely garden room with a comfortable sofa/daybed, drop leaf table and electric heater, the perfect place to have your evening whisky or G & T. Garden chairs, a BBQ and a table and bench are also provided for you to use.

Guest access

The cottage is on one floor, however it isn't suitable for wheelchair access. Dogs are welcome as long as they are well behaved.

The neighbourhood

East Linton is an historic East Lothian village and whether you are golfers, walkers, cyclists or looking for family fun you will find many attractions to keep you busy. For golfers this is the ideal spot, rated as being the best area in Scotland for golf, many famous courses are on the doorstep, Muirfield, Gullane and North Berwick to name a few. Numerous walking trails crisscross the area, the John Muir Way and Saltire Trail going right through the village. The nearby Lammermuir hills are a must for walkers and offer a strikingly different landscape to the coast.The Scottish Seabird Centre at North Berwick, and the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune and the leisure centre at Dunbar (with it's wave machine and flume) are great for entertaining the family on a rainy day. Edinburgh is within easy reach, a 30-minute drive or a direct bus (2 per hour - great if you want have dinner with a glass or two!!). A day or 2 exploring the city, particularly during the festival is a must. Alternatively, if you are looking for total relaxation and rest, this is the perfect place to be, a cosy warm cottage which has 2 great pubs (with good food) within easy walking distance.
Officially the sunniest area of Scotland, East Lothian has a lot to offer, from its spectacular coastline with fantastic beaches to historic castles, world-class golf courses and hill country. Explore its picturesque villages, seaside resorts and hills by car, on foot or by bike.

Getting around

There is a regular, direct bus service from the village to the centre of Edinburgh. The nearest railway station is Drem (a 10 minute drive) where there is a regular service to Edinburgh. For mainline services, Dunbar and Edinburgh serve the East Coast line from London Kings Cross. The nearest airport is Edinburgh, you can get to the cottage by taking the tram into Princes Street in Edinburgh, then taking the X6 bus to East Linton. There are also regular buses to North Berwick, Dunbar & Haddington.

Other things to note

Parking is available in the driveway or on the road.

Lynn Cottage is set in a beautiful village in East Lothian, Great for accessing Edinburgh on the bus. Stephanie made sure that the cottage was well equipped and comfortable with everything we would need. Communication prior to our visit was very good. We had a wonderful visit. Thank you.
